Every once in a while you get to see a gun that the current crop of the best smiths build, and you get to stand their without alot to say. Ted just finished these High Powers. A Perfect Pair by any standard. Every detail on both guns absolutely matches. I have seen several very nice High Powers. However, I have never seen a PAIR of any type of pistol executed to this degree. After the dust settled I have a great deal to say.

The pictures speak for themselves, but I thought I would throw in the details.
-Base guns started out as Belgian built Browning MKI HP's.
-Cylinder and Slide hammer and sear.
-Yost-Bonitz Custom beavertail and thumb safety.
-Flat topped and serrated slide at 50 lines per inch.
-Wrap around Henie sights that blend with 50 lpi rear of slide.
-24K gold line front sight.
-Sharkskin stippling on frontstrap and back of gun. Radiused and the top of the rear.
-Hand filed beveled mag wells.
-Factory browning barrels with flattened feed ramp, with a recut and crowned barrel.
-Carry Bevel.
-Matched pair of Spegel Malagasy Rosewood grips.
-Beautifully blued, like guns should be.

Lots of photos, but it is two guns, and they deserve extra photos. 8)

Thanks Connor. It is a pleasure snappin' a few when the boss does something like this. These guns are more impressive in person. Certainly gives me something to shoot for..................in the next twenty years. I have a feeling once Ted puts these up for sale it won't take long for them to go. Two guns for the price of a single full house 1911 from some builders.

Excellent photos of outstanding twins :D :D

This is even better than the Coors Twins ... well, maybe not quite, but pretty close

Steve-

As nice as they are... this post is CRUEL!!!! I have a perfect pair of BHPs, of my own in your shop, and you got me all excited that they were done! :( Oh well... hopefully soon! If they are even close to that nice (and I am sure they are) I'm already in love!

Thanks for the torture
Mark

I actually had a chance to put these in my hand this weekend. These guns are beautiful, feel great in the hand, and have SWEET triggers.

They are perfect twins. Ted even used a template to get the stippling radius identical, and you also have to look at how close the grain on the grips is between the two.

WOW - What a pair!!!!!

Mark,
As mindful as Ted is when he builds, I am sure your pair will come out of the shop meeting your approval. Just a heads up....Ted is probably going to sell these as a pair. I just thought some would like to know.

Man, I need to take a second mortgage out on my house while the interest rates are still low. I would love to answer that question, "What is your intended use of the money we loan you?" with, "To buy a matched set of Ted Yost High Powers of course." They'd probably reply, "I understand, take an additional $10,000."

Steve-

Hummm another set of HPs??? As much as I am SURE I need another set ..I better not. The wife may not be so understanding, maybe she needs a set? I not sure I could even sell that one. Oh well, I 'll settle for mine whenever Ted is done working his magic on them. 8)

BTW this forum has a great group of folks here, I have done business with only a few of them and my experiences have all been VERY good! Chuck has done some machine work on guns for me, I am waiting on some Bulman leather and Ted has been great! I guess I'll have to find some project to send to the others!
This project is a wonderful idea, and you have assembled a fine group of gentlemen here...congrads to you, Ted and whom ever else started this project!

Mark

Did they go on the market yet? I wouldn't mind adding them to my new addiction/ collection.
Excellent site guys, I guess I'm going to have to buy another gun safe because of it!
Thanks,
Gary

They shoot wonderfully. They are indeed a perfect pair! I think my daughters actually like the BHPs better than the 1911s; my 9 year old shot it and loved it. My 7 year old son likes 1911s like his old man, although he has only shoot my Colt Ace. They are already bickering over who is going to get what when they come of age.

Or my wife kills me and they inherit them. I took home the Retro gun today after the 10 day waiting period. I snuck out, but the wife was at home when I arrived... can you say "BUSTED!" I still have to wait on the consecutive pair of 1*s Elites, my FFL logged those in after the Retro gun even though they got them two weeks before. She said that since she didnt get me a Valentines present and my B-day is coming up, there's my present and what a great gift indeed!!

The FFL actually asked if I was going to shoot it. I had been bringing my custom 1911s there for the last 20 years.... am I going to shoot it??? I started Physical Therapy last week, so hopefully I will feel well enough to get out and try my new toys in a couple of weeks.
