Guys bere with me as I am new here. I just sent my Colt Series 70 off to the guys at Yost-Bonitz for the basic 1* package with a few upgrades. I thought what better time to get started here than now, that way I can bost about it when I get it back when they are done. Do any of you have this package on your guns? What do you think now that you have the gun back? Do you have any pics that are not those on the shop's site?

Sent my Milspec in mid-June 2004 and got it back December 31st, 2004. It's not a true 1* as I went with Heinie Straight 8's over the Novaks. I also had some misc small parts swapped out.

I think it's the bees knees. Looks great. Shoots great.

I know a number of guys on the USN who have the *1 package and they are all thrilled with it, really hard to beat even the basic version of the package on a Colt or a Springer. Once Steve gets caught up on all the other guns I have sent him I will probably have *1 built up as well. So many guns so little time

Heh ... I'm in a similar place. Finally took the plunge on a first custom 1911 and shipped my Springfield mil-spec off to Arizona for ... a variety of work; the packages didn't have quite what I wanted plus the Springer was stainless.

Reading this site and others has given me a hearty respect for the work; finally getting to shoot a couple of tuned 1911s convinced me that I really, really wanted one.

Now it's all about waiting for the blaster to come back and fidgeting alot; trying to keep happy with a stock Kimber until then....

Welcome to the dark side  a stock gun will never do for you again once you get one back from the fine smiths on this board nor will a Kimber if you are anything like me.

Love my Colt Commander that recently had the Y-B 1* package treatment with a few extras...

That's what I'm afraid of. Or at least, I think that's what my girlfriend is afraid of.

Now I even think I've stopped changing my mind about what I want, which I'm sure is about the most irritating thing that can happen. (Mind you, it was about a continuous series of adding stuff....)

I think the guys here must be used to their customers making changes. My own 'humble servant'... err-ahhh... pistolsmith  never seems to mind when I add another do-dad along the way. It seems to bother me way more than it does him.

I think it must be a by-product of us poor shmucks sending our babies off to our favorite 'smith and then just setting around thinking about them while we wait. Oh well, I'm learning patience by the 'hard fit' method.

Well, I've been to Ted and Lew's shop and handled a couple 1* pistols. I'm going to put my Kobra up for sale tomorrow. I just can't resist that retro look, and the polished blue flats.

Theo :-)

I own 4 1*s, one Standard, one Enhanced, and a consecutive set of Elites. They are the best bang for the buck going!! Everything you need and nothing you don't. If you buy one that is CA legal and are unhappy with it, I will buy it from you *; that's how sure I am you'll love the gun.

* Just dont tell my wife

Oh man. Beautiful AND in a great cause, and I'm looking around for a commander. But I already have the Springer in the queue and even if I do really want a commander....
