first off, this is NOT a how to question for the master smiths on here. it is however an informational question.

what i mean by defective is WAY undersized/ wrong batch ect.

i recently ordered a set of trijicons for my hk.(from brownells) installed goes fine until front sight. it is .005 to small!!! you can push it through the dovetail and across the room if desired!!! lol.

well "assuming" this is wrong i contacted brownells and they are shipping me a new set of sights and return the bad ones.

secont thought. i have yet to see a sight that wasnt made "to fit" or oversized for filing ect.

oh well, has anyone else experienced this kind of mix up/wrong part? or am i in the lonesome?

Don't be quick to blame the sights. I have seen many HK's come thru the shop that had oversize dovetails cut for the front sight. My sights are purposely made oversize for fitting and many will slide on thru.

Mr. Heinie, welcome! To say having you at LTW is "nice" is like saying Trump has a "bit of money". In other words, great to see you here.

I can count the HK's I've worked on with one hand, but I agree that sight cuts are not always necessarily perfect. I mean, when the dif between too tight and too loose is about the thickness of a piece of paper, it's not too much of a surpise to get one once in a while that ain't right. c.rod, sorry to say but I'd bet your replacement sight will be loose as well, let us know.

thanks for the reply guys. i should be recieving it early in the week.

well, compared to the stock front sight it was missing the "bump" that is in the center of the orignal hk sites. back one worked fine.

well, if it is the slide , i will send them back and buy some from you richard. is thier anyway i could get some "made" for the dovetail? (or have the biggest one picked out of the lot)

i know how to "fit" sights so that isnt a problem. (machinist background)

thanks guys.

well, you were right. the new ones are way undersized also.

not exactly sure what im gonna do now. im trying to do some shopping for the correct size so i dont have to "peen" loctite the sight in. its so loose im afraid it will shoot out even with the modifications....

sending all of them back.

ok guys. new update!!

a company called AMERIGLO. all i can say is YES!!!. first of all if im thinking correctly the trijicons i had were M.I.M. (the a.m. sights use trijicon inserts)

i know for a fact the ameriglo's are 100% cnc . besides being a nicer sight set they are oversized and will fit in my dovetail !! even enough metal for me to file them down!! couldnt be happier.

on a side note. i called and talked to owner/someone about my problem. told him the dimensions i needed. he went out and got a sight ,measured it and called me back. this is way beyond my expectations of "todays" usuall form of customer service.

oh, last thing they were 1/2 as cheap as the trijicons! for a better product. check em out guys.
thanks for the help everyone provided on the subject.
