I confess my ignorance, and need to ask what the removal of a mag catch does. What does the removal of this accomplish?

Thanks, Theo

I'm guessing that your talking about a magazine disconnect, such as a High Power , S&W auto, etc. use. The disconnect disables the pistol from firing if the magazine is removed. The purpose of removing the magazine disconnect is to 1) enable the firing mechanism so one might be able to fire the pistol while the magazine is out of the gun and 2) to improve the trigger pull (mostly on BHP's). You can develop your own scenario for a need to fire the gun with the mag removed. Hope this answers your question.

Well, it would keep your magazine from locking into place, and would allow you to remove your trigger, but I think you might be referring to removing or disabling a magazine safety (as on a BHP) which would allow the pistol to be fired even if there was no magazine in the gun.

I hope that helped...

Sorry, I did mean "magazine disconnect." I am referring to 1911's not BHP's. Does a 1911 even freakin' haveone? Holy crap I need to be spanked.

Thanks, Theo

No, the 1911 will fire with magazine in or out.
