I hope this isnt an inappropriate "how to" question. Not wanting advice on how to do any mods or custom project. Just want to know the best way to remove a (^$%**) FLGR.

Trying to detail clean my Brown custom Delta mini comp and cant for the life of me get the dang thing out. Am I missing something or am I mildly "challenged" (PC).

Gary

I find that it is a little easier to take the spring out before I try to remove the FLGR. It allows just enough room to snake the FLGR out of the slide. I'm gonna replace mine with a GI guide rod.

Gary,

Every gun I have with a full-length guide rod has a hole drilled in the rod that allows you to put in a small pin that captivates the spring and plug at he mid/rear position, which lets the entire unit be removed after tha slide is taken off. There is no need to mess with the bushing, and it saves a lot of headache. Does your guide rod not have this hole drilled? If not, I would keep it but take it to someone who would drill it for you. It's simple, clean, and worth the effort. I really don't know of any good ways to take it out otherwise, si I apologize in advance if this didn't help a thing.

Well not to pat myself on the back but I got the grod out of this gun and after we figured it out it wasnt that difficult just a bit on the peculiar side. No but really it was a bit different but I have a solid one similar to it in my caspian/springer gun. And just to start an argument I will say that I am a flgr fan and avid user. I am not an engineer but a spring functioning on a fully supported fixture should in theory increase the efficiency of said spring during operation. Yes I have heard all of the arguments regarding them and my opinion is this form your own opinion!!! Call me when you clean the delta again. B

If you have the hole, I use a paperclip through it.

Personally, I think they are a pain in the butt. Unless I'm forced to have one, I don't want it. Yet, as Keeney says, they usually have a little hole that you can stick a little paperclip in. That's how I do it.

my STI had a plastic clip you slipped over the forward end of the rod to hold the spring assembley compressed so you could remove it. It was a little over an inch long, looked like someone cut a tube in half lengthwise.
