Just got this. Great deal from CDNN. Here are some pics. I have replaced the recoil spring with a Wolff 18.5 # and the hammer spring with a 28#. Also changed the FP spring. Polished (very lightly!) the hammer and sear with a ceramic stone. Trigger pull is now about 5 lbs. down from what must have been 8-9 lbs. Also took out the mag disconnect. Very happy with it so far. Great overall pistol. This is my first HP, other than the Indian Inglis clone that I got before this one. There is no comparison to the fit and finish of the FN to the Indian. Also sporting the CDNN cocobolo grips. For $30.00, they are really nice. Have a palm swell/thumb "rest" that seems to fit my hand better than the stock flat panels. Also added some skate tape to the front and back straps. I know it does not look the best, but it sure works.

Now to just save the money for some Williams/Yost work!

Very nice!

I just send a check in for one of these (not from CDNN as they won't sell to California). It will go well with my hard chromed Browning.

I'm thinking a basic street package from Don Williams may be just the ticket... :)

Hm. I got a SIG 220 from CDNN and have been eying the Hi Power for a while; maybe this will be the catalyst that pushes me over the edge into acquiring one.

Thanks! (I think...)

On the FN Highpowers and this is NOTHING to do with function. One of my clients had his frame hard chromed and a void showed. Just keep that in mind. Saw significantly more voids in a KBI highpower whom another client had hard chromed.

Also he had used the C&S drop in sear and no bite hammer on the FN. WOW did that make a huge difference in trigger pull. Very, very nice and was installed by a novice. May or may not be luck but it made a real nice clean crisp trigger pull.

Hope this helps.

Talked with CDNN today. They still have them in stock. You can still get the matte finish MKIII. I have two more coming, one for me and one for my father.

Picked mine up Monday. Off to the range in just a few minutes. If this becomes a new addiction, I'm going to blame Stephen Camp!

Chip,

I bet I can think of a few thing to do with that gun. Dare to ask?

Wheeeee doggies!!!

Back from the range and boy did I have fun! :D :D

300+ rds of assorted stuff including Blazer, W-W white box and some miscellaneous JHPs of dubious pedigree and not nary a bobble of any flavor. Shoots to point of aim with the factory sights using the 115 FMJ, groups within 2 inches, some holes touching when I did my part of the performance. I bet somebody with better eyeballs than mine could put 'em all touching. And almost NO hammer bite!! No blood, just a reddened area and a slight indentation.

Jim my friend, yes tou may certainly ask. Here's a hint: Austin Behlert's hammer and sear set, Cartersville.

Picked up my second one today. Looks as good as the first, the trigger pull may be a tad better. Won't know until I get than dad gum mag disconnect out. Then pick up my Dad's tomorrow. Two more sets of the cocobolo grips. I also recieved the C&S sear and hammer today that will get put into one of them. I just need to see if the new one's trigger is better than the one I have tweaked. Decisions decisions....

I have some questions on the C&S hammer and sear fitup. I don't want to ask here if it is not appropriate. Two things that I notice right away is that the hammer pin in the stock hammer seems larger in diameter than the one in the C&S hammer, other than the counter sink for the pin head. Both ends of the pin in the stock hammer look larger. Also, with the sear fitted in the gun, the grip safety will not operate. Am I to assume that the safety will need to be adjusted ala 1911 to get it to operate correctly? The base pad on the C&S sear is just a tad wider than the stock sear. I also notice that the stock sear and hammer look at least to be cast if not MIM. Is this correct?

Deezul,

Grip safety? I'm assuming you made a typo and meant thumb safety, in which case you would most definitely need to have it fitted to perform properly and reliably. In my Hi-Power, which I no longer own, sadly, Dave Sams had to machine the hammer/sear pivot holes and frame holes to the same specs and fabricate pins to match. But, this is often done on guns that are of different specs than the aftermarket parts, which is actually pretty common. The degree of difference in specs versus what kind of quality/fit you're looking for is the biggest concern. No worries... I have had Colt 1911 with pin holes way oversized and done the same thing to them. It's not hard for any competent gunsmith and isn't an expensive task either. Doing it yourself might be a different story.

Oooops! I was thinking thumb safety and my fingers typed grip. Without knocking the pin out of the hammer, it is hard to say. I will keep looking for more information. Also, the trip itself is more valuable than getting to the destination, meaning that I am working to learn something here in the process, and not just looking to save some money on the end result. I am very well aware of my own limitations and have deep respect for those here that turn out such works of art. Just my attempt to learn more about what is a hobby and pastime for me.

Welll... you did it for be, deezul. Mine's on order -- should be here at the end of the week. Might well be a replacement for a CZ75 that leaves me with a blister on my trigger finger after 40 rounds. :(
