Over the years I have had a variety of beavertails fitted to my 1911's , starting with the MS Safari Arms (way back when).

I do prefer a speedbump of some sort.

What makes do our pistolsmiths prefer ? I know the Wilson hi-ride has a compound curve, and the Ed Brown requires a lot of material removal (also to the thumb safety) both to look right and to remove edges from the thumb safety.
I'm asking both for Colts and Kimbers, as I have a NIB Series I stainless Kimber I will either have modified or sell and buy another NRM Series 70.

Thanks for any input.

I have an FAQ article on my web site that answers your question in a lot of detail. http://www.precision-gunworks.com/TextD ... ertail.htm
Hope this helps!
