The lighting/reflection on the slide in the first two pics made it look like the slide was color case hardened... :?

Looks real good John. I hadda bow out of the Single Stack this year at the last minute. I think this is only the second one I've missed since 98. Great match and your prize gun is up to it.

Did I mention yet that I'da won the Single Stack last year if it hadn'ta been for some guy name Rob or sumpthin' and twenty other cheaters? :?

I like the look of that front slide treatment where you cut some of the bottom slide for a clean line. What is that called (if there's a name for it)?

Very nicely executed, John. Somebody at the 'Single Stack Classic' is going to win an exquisite single stack 'Classic'.

That's a beautiful piece, John, nice and clean all around!

And you're a brave man, I wouldn't let a 1000 grit polish anywhere near a rock.

Just beautiful.
Even with all the goodies he must have, I think Mr Leatham will like it.

I noticed that one of our very own did well at last years shoot. Maybe Ned can bring home that shooting iron this year, that is if you are going.

I guess that I over looked that part of his post. Personally it seems like a shame to award a shooting iron like that to a professional shooter like Rob Leatham but that is just me being jealous. :D Maybe one day in the not to distant future I'll be able to compete with these guys....

Right now about the only person with a chance to beat TGO is Dave Sevigny, and he will be there trying. But the problem is the Single Stack match is TGO's bread and butter, no one could touch him.

I don't know if he is shooting but Doug Koenig certianly has the skill level to compete with Leatham and Sevigny in this format.

John,

Beautiful gun. When I first looked at it I wondered what you did to screw up the slide finish , looking closer I realized you had polished it like glass and it was reflecting the rock. That's one gun that wouldn't see my kydex.

If I read Springfield's web site correctly, these 4 pistols (Heinie, Garthwaite, EGW and Precision) will go to a class winner that is the high finisher in that class with a Springfield pistol. The class winner won't win it, unless he's shooting a Springfield.

I think all Robbie gets to keep is his own pistol, provided somebody else doesn't win overall.

Heck, I may even be wrong!

For pure bragging rights his gun. If you were only interested in the gun and not the bragging rights I would take the brand new custom. I would think that his gun has a fairly high round count.

Any idea what happens to the four guns if the high finisher does not shoot a Springer? One would think that they would make very attractive raffle prizes :D .

By the way the gun you did is drop dead beautiful and is going to make someone very happy. I am going to be at EGW early next week hopefully George has his there so I can look at it up close and personal. Hopefully I won't drool all over it. :P

Mr. Sevigny will shoot the SSC on his own time and dollar so he will use proper equipment. I've seen him in action with non tupperware equipment and he ain't no slouch.

The way it reads to me is that the customs will go to the highest finisher in each class, using a Springfield pistol. Now, this is just my interpretation from reading Springfield's announcement. http://www.springfield-armory.com/whatsnew.shtml I am interpreting a bit and have been known to interpret in error. :? I have nothing to do with prize distribution.

Thanks for the kind comments about my pistol. I do wish I could find time to go, so I could see all four together. I'm also thinking there will be another gun from the Springfield Custom Shop, but see my earlier disclaimer 'cuz I might not know as much as I might think I might know.

Since I already have 4 Garthwaite cutsoms, I sure wish I was good enough to win John's gun...
Not this year.
Maybe if I eat my wheaties for next year?
