Dave, I was looking through your website and noticed you have some new packages available. Can you please post some pics of your MEUSOC pistol conversions, both old and new. Sounds like an excellent package.

It's brand new John. After seeing a recent article in American Handgunner about the MEU(SOC) 1911 and some online articles by Pat Rogers I spec'd the pistol and put the package together a few weeks ago. I've been trying to find a shop to make some rear sights for me.

It's a pretty neat sight - very similar to Ted's but the rear side is undercut 10 degrees like a Bo Mar. The one the Marines use is very tall and uses a tall front sight to go with it. I'm making it lower so a front sight about .200 high will work with it. Several shops expressed interest in making them but now they are all too busy to do a small run for me. I'm considering using Ted's rear sight or serrating a Kings rear sight in the mean time. Anyone know a CNC shop that can do a small run of 10 or 20 sights? Phoenix area is preferred but the sights are small enough that shipping from anywhere shouldn't be a problem.

Anyway, I ended up with a stainless 1911 so I'm building one of my retro packages on it right now (the MEU(SOC) gets parkerized). I should have some MEU(SOC) photos soon.

Great Dave!!!, I can give you my wholehearted endorsements of Ted's rear sight, it is DA BOMB. It is my favorite sight now, I like it even better than the Heine Slant Pros.

Yeah, they are great sights. I've put them in several other guns. They are good enough to make me wonder if it's even worth the effort to try and have some other sights made. The only reason I'm even bothering with making a rear sight is to keep the pistol as authentic as possible.

Are you guys talking about the new or the old marine 1911? From what I read in the new "American Rifleman" they got now a gun from kimber with Novak Night Sights, I've also seen a pic or two of the old meusoc 1911 with novak's.

There are now several "Marine" 1911s. The Kimber featured in the latest American Rifleman is an interim pistol for the Marine Corps Special Operations Command Detachment 1 (MARSOC DET1) and is sometimes referred to as the DET1 1911. There is currently bidding going on for a 1911 to be purchased in greater quantity. The Marines needed guns now so they were able to buy these Kimbers in the mean time.

The 1911 that we are referring to is the MEU(SOC) 1911. These have been produced in-house by the Marine Armorers on 1911s that they had in inventory. I refer to these as the "old" MEU(SOC) 1911 and the "new" MEU(SOC) 1911 to simplify things but they have actually evolved over the years. The Marine Armorers rebuild these pistols regularly and have replaced some parts with newer ones such as the Novak sights and the Ed Brown beavertail. The "new" and "old" designations are mine for the reproductions that I'm offering. I don't belive the Marine Corps makes this distinction.

I have been getting lots of requests for the MEU(SOC) rear sight. I've been trying to refer them to Ted for his sight (gotta help a brother out) but most of them want this one anyway. I've found another machine shop that might make them so I hope to have some available soon.

Dave did you ever get this sight made? Have you any pics of your MEU(SOC) package? Sorry to reply on an old thread.

I finally found a shop that would make a small run of the sights. I copied the USMC specs except I didn't make them quite as tall and I had the sight opening made wider. The Marine's sight required a really tall front sight. Mine need a front sight around .200 high. I should have the first batch of MEU(SOC) pistols done in a month or so.

Are we talking about Ted's retro rear blade sight?

I thought the thread was discussing how Dave's and Ted's are similar and was wondering if they were referring to Ted's retro site. Sorry, should've been more clear.
