This is probably direct more at the Yo-Bo crew than anyone. Several reliable outfits are selling "pre-packaged" ignition sets or "trigger pull in a package" sets, notably Yost-Bonitz, C&S and Nowlin. Are any of these designed to work with a specific thumb safety? I have tried the Nowlin set with a McCormick thumb safety, and it didn't work well at all. SOMETHING on the safety rubbed on the hammer, dinging one of the hammer hooks and I can't find it. What safety are the Yo-Bo guys using with their hammer/sear combo?

The sets are designed to be used with a variety of thumb safeties, but remember that there are a lot of things that come into play when fitting parts. Safeties are either cast or MIM, and variations from manufacturer to manufacturer are common, as well as individual parts that may not be perfect. You have to treat each as an individual job rather than generalize. We use a lot of Brown and Wilson safeties, and we also have to reject and return a fair portion of these for warpage, cracks, and size related defects.

Nothing's perfect, but...

Thanks Ted. Interesting point. I'll have to go back a take another look at that hammer/safety issue. Maybe the safety is out of spec. Seemed odd that a Nowlin hammer would cause problems.
