I know this is not really a full house custom work question but rather more like trigger tuning inquiry. Which of you pistolsmiths have done work on Berettas/Sigs or willing to take on the DA guns, i.e. smoothing trigger/action, sight installations, part swapping, etc.
I ask this question because the guru of Beretta tuning has closed up shop and left a void in this venue. Thanks.

Hi Ricky

Jarvis has done a lot of beretta work in the past.
For Sigs, try the Sigarms custom shop or Bruce Gray. I think Teddy Jacobson is also semi-retiring, his SIG work is very good.

Smooth One,

I don't know who THE GURU of Beretta tuning is, but they sure slipped past my radar. The gunsmith who developed the match upgrade for the Beretta M9 - 92 and who still does a whole lot of Berettas is still up and running. Dave Sams developed the Beretta upgrade for the AMU under Colonel Mack Johnson and that same Beretta is the one that Tony Kidd did for a while, the AMU still uses, and many Beretta tinkerers have tried to figure out. George Harris, Asst. Director of Training at SigArms Academy, and an Army reserve marksmanship unit MSG, is the one who introduced me to MSG Sams, and from what I have seen and shot, Dave does a pretty damn fine Sig tuning, too.

I have had the oppurtunity to study, very closely, the Beretta that Dave Sams builds, as well as talk to many of the people at AMU who were there while he developed the gun, to include the man who gave the order, and everything I have found says that he is THE GURU of Beretta tuning... and Sigs, too. FWIW, he builds some of the most accurate 1911s anywhere, and his rifles are found all over the world in long-range accuracy matches.

Hope that helped.

Thanks gentlemen for the info. I was interested mainly in carry and work type of mods.

smooth-

I'm going to beat Jim to this one: Dave can do any of that type work you might desire as well.

One would think that if David Sams had the ability to extensively modify a Beretta for the AMU than it is probably safe to assume he has the skills to modify one for daily carry.

EGW does Sig work and I can tell you from first hand experience that their work is first rate.

Badger and Witherspoon,

Good lookin' out.

Smooth One,

Adding to what Badger said... Dave has done quite a few of his Berettas for various police departments and SWAT teams. I shot one that was basically a full build with Naovak sight, which is the setup most of those departments request from him. I have shot plenty of his "tuned" carry guns in the way of Berettas, Sigs, 1911s, S&Ws, Walthers, and CZs. If it has a trigger, Dave can make it right. I'd give him a call, at least to talk to him about what you're looking for. You might just find what you want and what he can do mate up pretty well. Ernie langdon At Langdon Tactal Tech used to do an incredible job on a 92/96 action. But after looking at the way he did it it was rather easy do duplicate he also installed Bar-sto's in them and they were friggin sweet. The ones he used had a flared end to create a lock up at the slides fore end kinda like a cone barrel. He used to have a website up might check it out. By the way Im not trying to solicit buisness for the guy but having played with a bunch of guns he reworked it is worth a look anyway.

Ernie Langdon is no longer in the pistol tuning (or training) business. He was recently hired by S&W as their national Law Enforcement Sales boss. He is finishing out his committments and is not taking in any new business...

Fellas,

I know from personal experience that Dave prefers direct phone calls over e-mails, and his website isn't very descriptive at all anyways. Why? Well, two reasons: he has maybe logged ten minutes online in his lifetime, and he doesn't offer any packages. He builds exactly what the customer wants and has the ability to do much anything on any gun. Just my $0.02... and I will admit to being partial to him. He's built me quite a few guns that I wouldn't trade, sell, or hand over for any price (within good reason), and he's one helluva great guy. Oh... he's good, too.

Wayne,
Doesnt surprise me I think he had a bit of a falling out with beretta from my understanding I have shot with the guy and he is quite amazing but he could be rather unpersonable at times. I am surprised to hear him at smith though after his sig stint but oh well I am of the opinion he can probably shoot just about anything very well. Sorry if I shot bad info at you I havent been in contact with him or seen his website in a long time. He did good work but nothing too cosmetic anyways and nothing that couldnt be done by a proficient gunsmith or experienced hack but I gotta give Ernie props on his action jobs they were pretty superb and it took me about 3 sets of hammer/sears for the 92 before i figured out how he managed to keep them light and firing without doubling. I never played with any of his sigs though.
