I travel a lot for business. One plus of that is I can check out gunshops in different cities and states. I found this Delta at a shop in Hawaii (hey, someone has to go there

) I asked to look at it and the salesman told me it was a "franken" gun that someone had put together. His basis for this was that "they never made a blued frame/SS slide Delta, and it had a "no name" barrel. He tried to sell me the shiney Delta Gold Cup he had for 1200.00. I wrote down the serial # and did some internet research that night. I was obvious to me that the frame was coated not blued and the DS137XX serial # comfirmed it was a Stainless Delta. I also found out that none of the stock barrels were marked Colt. I went back the next day and bought the gun for 600.00 and had it shipped home.
Here's phase one of my project. Striped it, bead blasted, smooth flat mag well (future serration job), new Yo-Bo hammer, sear, disconector, EGW pin stop, ATEC extractor, Ed Brown firing pin. All new springs and pins.
The next step was gong to be a trip to one of the smiths, then some weird things happened. I was check ebay for various Delta accessories, mags etc, and a Blue Delta slide came up. I bid on it and won it for 228.00. My buddy asked what I was going to do with it and I said,"future project, maybe a Caspian frame". He calls me this past weekend. He's at a small gunshow and a gunsmith has a Caspian frame and parts that a customer had backed out on. I rush down and it's not just a frame and parts, it's DONE! The gun is 95% done, all Wilson parts, just need the frame finished. I bought it for 305.00. Now I suddenly have 3 Colt projects (including my S70). So now the plan is save up and have matching Delta's done.

Here are more pictures of the condition of the gun when I bought it.
