This post is rated R.

Have heard several people say that Conamyds may not belong on a BHP..... I say if they're OK on a 1911 they must be OK on a P35, but...... these pics may not be for everyone. If in doubt please have a bag handy! Not responsible for keyboards disabled by chunks

Conamyds with hi-grip in front, depth lightened up a bit over the thin spots. Conamyds back, following both contours of the backstrap.

Ned, Don't know how you do that, but it looks cool - very "industrial" looking. Best,

Nice touch Ned. I would have no problem having them on my Hi-Power.

As a certifiable High Power nut, I like 'em!
But then, if you ask me, which you didn't, the only thing that doesn't belong on a High Power is the magazine disconnect.

Really, I didn't know there was enough thickness in the front strap to do Coneys. Good to know.

barry, its been my understanding that the frontstraps in the last couple years have been a little thicker than previously.

If you look closely you'll see that the Conamyds are shallowed up a tad around the edges.

Sorry to say this gun is now out of my reach. Did it for an old pal who is also a gunsmith but works on different stuff than me, don't know if he's finished it, doubt it, and it will probably be a while.

But, the beavertail is way high, so the hammer had to be abbreviated in the back. Slotted it too just to lighten it up a tad (but mostly for styling, he did say make it look different).

Gee, if there was any doubt about the combination of Conamyds and a BHP, I have test guns you could have worked on.....

Ned,
In reference to my link I posted, I was wondering if something like "golfballing" could be done on a BHP. I already asked Chuck Rogers, and he doesn't do any work on the BHP. I just figured that if our Simonich Gunner Grips project becomes a reality, it'd be cool to have the "golfball" treatment to match.

I think yes..... I can see why you would want it. First to match the grips and second, because it is a very useful treatment. Actually I put those in the wrong order.

I might undertake it but only with some consutation with Chuck.

Patrick, thanks, always the selfess one....

The keyboard may be disabled, but by drool, not chunks.

That mod looks spectacular. I think I prefer it to the stippling common to custom BHPs. The only way to know for sure is to try it. Do you have any loaners or need a test subject? ;)

I think this is the only BHP I've done, although I may have done another one. Loaners? yes. I work like the Lamborghini dealer, when you bring your car in for service, you get a loaner. So, bring in a Lamborghini and I'll give you a loaner BHP

Also, I don't know if this is possible (I'm no 'smith, that's fer sure), but if the front strap is too thin, is a pre-golfballed weld on front strap an option? I know they make 'em for 1911's.
FWIW, I got the Spegel grips in and they are being sent to Simonich/Strider today 8)
