Help...

Just bought a new DETONICS USA Combat Master.

Grips are HUGE... I'm a slimline grip person.

Where can I find, or have made, some slim grips?

Please help - or this pistol is on it's way!

I can understand why they would want to duplicte the classic Detonics styling, but they oughtta offer the options of metal removed from under the trigger guard and grip safety tang. This would modernize it a bit without making it "not a Detonics", and honestly, would make it twice as viable as a mini .45 (in this version it would also have a sight without the thumbcocking ramp).

And thin grips. Your best bet is to thin-up the existing ones, then you'll have to re-counterbore the back side. Shorten the bushings and screws and you're ready to go.

The one New Detonics I've seen was.... impressive. To be honest I was all ready for it to be a poorly put together, capitalize-on-the-name-and-screw-quality, piece. What I saw was some real-deal quality and fitting, it was a very pleasant surprise.

I think the STI LS9 has thin grips that fit the Combat Master. I remember Brownells used to sell a thin grip that fit both guns.
I have an original Seattle address CM, and I got to briefly handle/shoot one of the new guns. While it was generally well put together, and shot well in my hands (I got it from someone who said "it didn't work"), I also wondered why they had to stick so close to the 30yo CM design, and not update it a bit (as the late-'80s New Detonics guns did). I'd also like to see one with a bit more frame tang at the rear - since the cocked hammer extends out past the frame, what do you really gain by having the frame so short - and some sight options.
