Today, a local range held a benefit match, 1/2 IDPA and 1/2 USPSA. I've been so focused on USPSA Open division for the past year and a half that I've neglected my ol' trusty rusty Baer 1911 (trusty thanks to Ned Christiansen ;) ). So, I dragged it out, wiped off the cobwebs, oiled 'er up and shot it for the IDPA portion. WHAT A BLAST!!! I'd forgotten how fun a basic, simple, single stack was!

Anyhow, I have this 1 year old, never been fired, also neglected Rock River Limited Match lying around. :( (beautiful gun, thanks to Damian Worthy ;) ) I reeeeaally like this gun but haven't shot it because I figured it would have a higher resale value than the Baer. I just didn't need both if I wasn't even shooting one of them.

SOooo... my idea today was... how about converting the RRA into 9mm, solely for competition purposes? What does that entail? Would it be worth the time/effort/cost to have that done or would it be better to just sell it and start anew?

Thanks, y'all!
:D

If the Rock River is a .45, it would probably be best to sell it and get a similar 9mm. There are issues in both frame and slide that preclude a simple caliber swap. The feedramp is too deep and too far forward in the .45 frame, and of course the breechface in the .45 slide would be too wide.

If Rock River makes a 9mm, that would be a perfect replacement. Springfield also makes some nice 9mm 1911's. Most of the ones I see have RL stamped on them, and are for the most part worn out, but very nice guns nonetheless.

BTW, Welcome to LTW!

Hooo-eeee, Sharyn's here!

Great to see ya here Sharyn, I swept, dusted, and mopped the executive lounge in prep for your arrival, but I can't make any promises that these other hillbillies won't make a mess again.

Welcome!

Sharyn, I am so glad to have you here!

I am still trying to help you with that LM situation. If anything changes on your end, let me know so I don't stick my foot in my mouth.
