Anybody have anything done by Bob Rodgers of Rodgers Pistolsmithing? I did a search and couldn't find anything. There's an article about his a Springfield done by him in this month's OnTarget Magazine. How does his work compare to everyone elses? Just looking for feedback.

You can see some of his work on the 1911 Forum. He has posted a few guns that he built over there. I thought he had some posts here too but I could be mistaken. I have not held any of his work firsthand but it appears that he does very nice work judging by photos. The customers of his that I have seen make posts are all very satisfied by his work and his customer service. I think there are a few 'smiths either here or the 1911 Forum that have worked with him so I'm sure they will chime in. I know that he did a Springfield with pics posted on the 1911 Forum that had the Chuck Roger's Golfball treatment and some basic tuneup work that was very nice and also the posts that he makes indicate that he is well versed in the 1911 and knows of what he speaks.

I've not had him do any work for me, but when I was looking into having my first custom 1911 built he was EXTREMELY helpful to me and very gracious even after I told him that I just couldn't afford him at that time. The pics of his work always look incredible and he was a real gentleman to interact with.

If you go to Bob's website and look at his pictures, notice the first stainless SA. I own htat particular gun. It is without a doubt one of the best 1911s I've owned. Exceelent fit and finish and very very accurate and reliable. On top of that he is a very nice fellow to visit with. I would highly recommend his work.

I have known Bob for a number of years and have seen his pistolmaking ability grow until where he is today. In my opinion he is excellent and very easy to deal with. It is rare to find an honest 'smith today and Bob is as honest as they come.

I had Bob build me a Colt about a year ago and have recommended him to my friends and he has built them guns (about 6 I believe). The guns he is building today are better than the one he built me which is the mark of a great gunsmith as they keep improving on every finished gun.

I can recomned Bob Rodgers without reservation to anyone. Bob may not build what you want as he has to believe in the parts he puts in but he will inform you up front. There will be no surprises.

I have in my safe a Springfield that he just finished for a friend and compared to what it was originally (I knew the previous owner) this is a miracle.

The best thing about Bob is that he is not as well known as some 'smiths so you won't have to wait years to get your work done but I doubt that this will last very long as his fame is growing very quickly. I am on a few 'smiths wiat list and they are out 4 to 8 years presently.

The true test of a good gunsmith is would a previous buyer purchase another one from the 'smith. You can bet every last dollar that I will own another of his guns and soon as soon as I can find a few more new Series 70 Colts.

Irv - quite an endorsement of Bob's work, good to know. Since buying Ted's Signature Grade LW Commander earlier this year, my one and only true custom 1911, I'm afraid that I won't be adding to anyone's backlog anytime soon.

I'll bring the Yost Commander with me (along with a blue gun) to the Steve Tarani class in a couple of weeks. Warning, though - you may drool (I do).

I've been a lurker for awhile and tend to avoid most internet forums.

I'll give you my impression of your commander at Southern Exposure the first part of August for the Tarani Universal Disarm class and the Randy Cain Tactical Carbine 1.

I love fine 1911s and have some of the very best in my collection and I shoot them all. My first was a Bob Chow gun that I bought while a student at the university in the 1960s. I really couldn't afford it and Bob let me make payments. I have many of the major makers that I think are at the top of the list. I recently (last weeked) bought a Pete Single that is really beautiful but has a Blow-Mar sight.

I've recently got back into 1911s earlier this year and was doing some research on a lot of the current 'smiths' when I came across Bob's webpage. Very nice work displayed so I decided to give him a call about some issues I had with my SA 'loaded' Operator. Bob was an absolute gentleman on the telephone and I really felt guilty about taking up his time on the phone with so many questions. I then took the plunge and sent my Operator to him for a full makeover. Here's an updated picture of my Operator that has been posted here, 1911Forums, AR15.com and on page 2 of Bob's gallery...

I currently have a NIB Colt ORM 1991 Govt. with him for a complete makeover which I should be getting back in a few months and Bob will definitely get a third pistol from me as soon as I decide which one. I am a customer for life and I am sure many of the guys who has had work done by him can vouch for his attention to detail and great pistolsmithing skills. Stan

Bob did a reliability package on my SA Chapmpion. Great work. It is my carry piece which means ,"I trust my life on Bob's work." I highly recommed.

Haven't had a pistol done by him yet... However, he refinished a pistol for me and cut a rear Novak so it was flat, instead of angled. Top notch work. He's getting a pistol next year, seems like a helluva nice guy too.
