I picked up the annual Custom Combat Handguns magazine today. Inside was a 5 page spread on a 1911 that Steve built for Mike Detty. The pistol use's a Caspian frame with a Colt 1991 slide. Heine's, Wilson Barrel, CMC beavertail, C&S ignition, yada yada. Very nice pistol Steve, and Congratulations. 8)

So, you found that huh? Mike is a great friend. Hope he still owns the gun. I really enjoy Mike's writing style. Thanks for the nice words.

Steve,
Sorry it took so darn long to make it to print. Unfortunately I traded the gun for a Lorcin .380. I'll drop it by on my next visit-I'd like you to checker it for me, OK?

Seriously, for a guy in the gun business you learn not to get attached to guns. That pistol, that started off as a bunch of parts in my gunshow bin, is one my heirs will inherit. I probably don't shoot it as much as I should because it is so nice!

Thanks again to you and Ted for a job well done!

Steve may have to make a decision soon. He's got too much time invested in the S.O. to quit, but I can tell that the 'smithing is singing a siren song to him. Good thing, cause he's got the touch. Congrats Steve. You do nice work, and it's nice to get the notice you deserve.

Congratulations Steve! I'm glad for ya', bud! Steve is one of the genuine good guys in this business who does a tremendous amount of behind the scenes things, not always getting the recognition that he deserves. And somehow in the middle of all this, he's learned to build a really fine blaster! Good Job, Steve-O! :D

I remember that one....

Mike, hang on to it. it's the first gun Steve finished in our shop. It was actually started the same time as a Colt, but he wanted to checker the Colt, and it took a bit longer to finish

Enjoy it - there's a lot of heart in that first build.
