I was wondering if it's possible to improve light roll marks. Does anyone offer engraving services or anything like that?

Scott

I keep hearing that Doug Turnbull's shop does it, never have used the service though.

I recently asked a profesional engraver if he could clean up and slightly enhance the uneven roll marks on Delta Elite slide he said " sure, no problem, take me a couple of hours, give me $75, I've done several others". I think any competent engraver could do it.

Accurate plating in Florida is set up to re-cut most common roll marks. Their refinish work is top notch too

FWIW Colt will do it for $50. I have a Delta Elite Slide that I intend to send to them shortly. I asked if they re-rollmark it. I was told that they no longer have the dies and it is deepened by engraving. The $50 does NOT include re-bluing on blued slides.

When I get around to doing it I will post pictures. I told John I would send them to him so I can post here. Since I'm a week behind on sending a frame to SDM don't look to me to be on the ball with doing this either, LOL.

If only my wife & kids and job would get their priorities straight

Would you please send me their contact info? I emailed Resoration Gunsmith but he doesn't do Delta slides.

I just called the customer service number at Tel: 1-800-962-COLT and told the woman what I wanted and she went to talk to someone else and came back with the info that it would be engraved deeper and the charge was $50 plus rebluing the slide.

I know John Harrison has talked to Colt about it as well but I'm not sure if he remembers the price he was told or if he was even told one.

I have some money now to spend on gun stuff so I am planning on sending mine within the next few weeks. I'll post after I get it back for those interested.

Guys, Colt did not give me either a price or a firm yes answer that they could do anything to the roll marks. I heard about Bill Adair next and was intending to work with him, but just hadn't gotten to it yet. Sorry to hear that he doesn't do Delta slides. Did he say why?

I guess it's not uncommon to talk to two people and get two answers but they told me $50. I figure I will call them next week and see if I get the same answer and I will be the guinea pig. I better act now before someone else spends my money, LOL

John, Here is Mr. Adair's email
"Two bad ones: The Delta's are hard as diamonds, and I keep away from those.
The 1970 Commander is not one I have a pattern for. Sorry."
