For me the holidays are nice....for kids. This is my favorite time of year. The LTW guys are gearing up for the '06 Shot Show and like a kid I wonder what they will bring. Every LTW strives to build a better gun each time out of the gates. It is a constant learning process.

The upside for us is that we get to see how their long years in a shop pay off. There are no fans waiting outside for autographs, no photographers, no interviews to be done. It is most of the time the smith, some files, and the drone of the mill to keep them company.

However, as a result of alot of quiet evenings in the shop Ted has created another pair similar to last years set....but different. The Colt 1911 conjurs up romantic memories we all had the first time our fathers or brothers said "this is a Colt" and for some reason you knew it was different.

Well, these are Colts...stainless reproduction Series 70 pistols that Ted has been working on for quite some time. This set shows the result of more than just smithing skill. Ted started out his career making custom rifle stocks, meaning hand checkering on the stock, finishing, which led to some exquisite rifles. The wood and metal work are shown here.

There are a couple of photographs of last years set. This year it is the stainless pair, with handmade African Blackwood stocks, matching handles on the tool sets, in a black leather case. I would imagine the owner was wondering how these would come out. Well, alot like last year. The downside for Ted is, he has to top this in '07. Good Luck Theo.

I can't find the words to describe how beautiful those pistols are. I'll just leave it at that.

Mr Bailey, I cannot find more profound words than these that you have penned. "'True happiness comes from the joy of deeds well done".

WOW!! There is only one way Ted can top that, by making a triple matched consecutive set!!

Absolutely stunning. I have a feeling the LTW booth is going to own SHOT again this year.

I think that Ted has out done himself yet again. I thought that last year's set was the best looking set I had seen. At the time I was right. Now this year's set takes that honor.

What's next Ted?

Very nice... What kind of Heinie sights are those? That dovetail cut doesn't look like the regular Heinie cut.

As with the other previews......I'm just at a loss for words.
The sheer 'class' of this work is of a magnitude I have not previously seen.
I've never been familiarized with fine rifles or shotguns. I have seen a few I thought were amazing in sheer craftsmanship. Most were described as having been built 'in the good old days'.

These 1911's, as seen above, have finally 'come of age'.

Hundreds.....mebbe thousands of years from now, these guns will still exist. Testimony, I think, to 'the good old days'.

Ted, that is class and craftsmanship, DEFINED. We are fortunate to have such talent carry on the tradition of the finely crafted, classic custom Colt along the lines of Purdey, H & H, etc......

All of a sudden I realize-- we don't need the Calendar Girls in the adjacent booth to get attention.

Not that, ah, it wouldna been a nice bonus....

No one else go this, so I will. YoBo machines the rear leg off of a regular Heinie sight. I really like it.

Very, very nice.

But as someone that shoots right handed and practices with the left.
And this set looks like it is a right and left pair, (looking at the leather)shouldn't the left side gun have an ambidextrous safety?

We really need a jaw dropping smiley for threads like this one. Those are absolutely beautiful. You've impressed yet again, Ted. I think both sets are simply amazing.

I too thought last year's pair was unsurpassable, but Ted, you've done it again. Those guns, and accessories are simply elegant. Nothing garrish, nothing there that is not needed. Pure class.

Well Ted, if you need a place to store those while they are not on display at the show I would be more than happy to make room in my safe for a couple more .45's. 8) I am sure my ladies from Tim won't be offended but don't blame me if they simply can't bear to part company with their new found frineds. I really love your work and some day aspire to owning one of your works of art. Well Done!!
