How does a Caspian frame and slide rate/compare in quality of steel, etc. to the highest quality Colt, Wilson, Baer frames and slides?

As good or better. He is using cast frames now, but all of the top smiths use them. Some consider them to be the best base for a full custom if you want to start from scratch. I still like forged frames and slides. No good reason, just old school thinking. You can't go really wrong with any of the ones that you mention.
