Does any one know if it is possible to checker the front strap of a sig?

If so who does it?

I'm sure it's possible but the problem is that on the aluminum framed models you will be checkering right through the anodizing which isn't a good thing to do. But.... you could have the frame finshed in one of the prevelant "spray & bake" finishes but those don't do anything for aluminum strength like anodizing does. Alot of the guys over on the SigForum that use their Sigs for IDPA and such just slap on some "grip tape".

On the stainless framed models (P226ST, P220ST, etc.) you don't have the problem of checkering through the anodizing but the problem is that it would need to be freehand checkered (as would be the aluminum framed models) as I don't think there are any fixtures or jigs for the non symetrical Sig grip frames ???

Another option is Novaks "stippling" which I think is done with old worn out files ??? I don't think this method gets to far into the anodizing ??? I have seen Sigs with this treatment done from Novaks.... Don't know if they still do it though ???
