Here're a few shots of an original Series 70 Colt I just finished. This old pistol had a few, er....issues. To their credit - when informed, the Colt factory stepped up to the plate and helped us out with a MAJOR slide problem. That's "over the top" service from a company on a gun this old.:) We tend to be a lot faster to complain than we are to praise, but in this case at least, Colt gets a public "Thank You!" I was still left with a cosmetic issue on the frame, and spent a bunch of time hunched over bright lights with magnifying glasses on and file in hand -- doing my best if not to completely correct, to at least minimize the glitch.

Lookin good Bob! I'm curious about what it was that Colt would agree to fix after all that time, if you can go into more detail? Always good to hear about them doing good.

Gee Bob, that looks so much like the gun I have in mind except I want Chuck's golf ball treatment on my frontstrap & MSH. Please do tell what were the slide and frame issues...

Colt is good for that. Anyway, there are many things that draw my eye away from the rollmark. :P That is a great gun!

....and other myths.

Thanks for the kind comments about the pistol. :)

Dhart, the rollmark issue is a matter of angle and lighting. It amazes me how much a slight change in perspective can skew the image.

I've posted another photo of that side of the gun. See what ya think....

I've reopened this per Bob Roger's request.

Please keep this about Bob's pistol, and NOT the Colt Rollmark.

If you guys want to open a thread about rollmarks, feel free to do so.

I'll say it again, I'm an ass for not knowing about Mr. Rodgers before I moved out of my home state of Arkansas.

Mark... I'm glad you re-opened the thread... I wanted to clean out the rollmark discussion... thanks. Bob's work on the gun is simply gorgeous!
