Hello all:

I sure don't need to indroduce Ned around here so I'll just quickly tell you a bit about the class.

Ned will be teaching a one day format 1911 Armorers course at the Gander Mountain in Novi, Michigan. The classroom is first rate and will offer a very relaxed atmosphere for this unique opportunity.

I know many of you are very familiar with Ned's work and I'm here to tell you that he's also a first rate person, patient, articulate, and sure to be a good teacher.

We only have 25 slots available and they'll go fast. Some vendors have gotten on board and at the very least a bushing wrench and work mat will be provided.

Please follow the link below to learn more.

Thanks-

Brent Chambers

C-rod, you need a kinder boss. Those are brutal hours- I wish you could make it.

I'd love to attend but work id going to have me unavailable. We are about to go into about 90 days of lock down, with long hours, so I can' plan on having anytime off until June.

Sounds like a great opertunity, just visiting Ned a few times I have learned allot. I cannot imagine how much more I could learn in an actual class.

Guys-

I've received a number of phone calls/emails from out-of-towners on the feasibility of flying in for this class. A couple of guys have decided to go for it. For those of you considering the trip, the venue is about 20 minutes from Detroit Metropolitan Airport. Area hotels provide shuttles to/from the airport. There is lodging within walking distance of the venue, so you don't need to rent a car. Bottom line is that you can fly in Friday night, catch a shuttle from the airport, take the class on Saturday, and fly out Saturday night.

Feel free to email me at info@triad-tactical.com if you have any questions or need more information.

I look forward to meeting some of you at the class-

Dennis

My money would be on Ned. Anyone who's seen him shoot pins would also have their money on him.

Guys-

The class has been filled for some time and we have a number of names on the waiting list. Small wonder considering Ned's reputation. For those of you that want to get in the class but are unable to do so, I hope we can do another class down the road.

We'll be sure someone posts a review after the class.

Dennis

Well just got home from the class and as always Triad did a great job and put on and AMAZING class. Thanks to Dennis and Brent for all the freebies and for getting Ned to do this.
Thanks to Ned I now feel very confident taking my 1911 all the way down and I never even felt comfortable doing this with something as simple as a Glock before.... I think Ned did a great job of keeping a total newbie drawn in while teaching some people who already had quite a deal of experience with the 1911... I did not feel lost or in too deep at any point.
This class was a steal for the price!

Will there be a repeat performance in the near future?

Thanks for the report. I saw this thread a couple of days ago, realized the class was going on then, and hoped someone would tell us about it.

I was one lucky few to attend Ned's class put on by the great guys at Triad Tactical. All I can say is WOW!!! A lot of great sponsers gave us
goodies to enjoy.

I felt more confident and smarter just by being in the same room with Ned. Just knowing that Ned was there as our safety net as some of us were going deeper into our 1911s than ever before.

Ned also shared many of his super top secret methods and magical tricks with the class. He also shared his "don't try this at home" testing procedures with us.

Ned personally made each of us a custom 1911 tool and even shared with us on how it was constructed and what special components were used. Ned "consumed mass quantities" of popsicles and autographed them just so we could have them to use in class. He even provided us
with an engraved dummy round for testing in class. We now know that
his real initials are RP. Many of us class attendees will be looking for presentation cases.

I cannnot thank Ned enough for taking the time to do this for us, and being such a nice guy to answer every question we asked, It was Great!!

Many thanks to Ned.

Would love to take this class. Maybe someday...

Speaking of secret methods, you should have him share with you (edited so as not to embarass Ned).

Harold, pipe down over there! Wish ya coulda been there. k1911, gladja enjoyed the class. Always looking for a way to cull RP cases out of my brass as they don't hold jacketed bullets well, at least not with the dies I'm using.

Everybody got a popsicle stick to help them get the safety detent pushed in so the thumb safety could be assembled. I numbered them and then called out numbers throughout the day and flung a door prize at whoever had the number. I'd like to thank the folks that sent me things to do this with-- Tripp Research, Rock River Arms, CorBon, and Keith, who posts here as ltwtcommander, sent a couple sets of his grips. Dave Manson, the guy who makes Manson chamber reamers, was a student and had some very nifty combo tools he handed out. He brought along some of his stuff that was very helpful as we discussed chambers, as of course was his vast knowledge on the subject.

But the guys at Triad really wowed me with the things they had arranged. Each student got several different lube samples, some cleaning aids, catalogs including the most important ones to any shooter/gunowner, Brownells and Midway, plus more stuff I can't think of at the moment. Hopefully one of the Triad guys will fill in the blanks here.

And thanks to Triad for doing such a class job on all the groundwork. The venue was great, I mean, even luxurious, not even considering it was at a huge Gander Mountain that had.... everything.

The only hitch to my knowledge was that, despite Triad's best effort at finding a place that could get us all in and out for lunch in a hurry, and calling them to confirm the space and ability to do this, lunch dragged on and on. We're sorry and embarrassed about that happening, guys. Live and learn I guess, and re-learn-- don't bet the farm on somebody else's optimism. Fortunately, some ofthe guys were able to stay late and we did get it all covered.... and the guys that had to leave on time did not miss anything too critical-- the last items on my outline were deliberately some of the less important ones.

For my part it was a great day, met a lot of nice people and got the feeling I helped some of them. Definitley learned some things myself. Thanks to all the students for being safe, attentive, tolerant of some of the skipping around we did, and patient!

Lunch was a bummer and as you noted we all shared your frustration.

For those that attended or just want to see what it all looked like the photos from the class are now up on our website:

http://triad-tactical.com/

The vendors were great and Colt, Slip 2000, Midway and Manson Reamers merit particular thanks.

Colt sent a variety of hat types and shirt types which we handed out as we could- largely based on what looked like it would fit people. Midway sent not only a work space mat for everyone but a really nice bench block tool as well. Slip 2000 sent their lubricant and their Carbon Killer.

Militech and Armalube also sent lubricant samples for all and Brownells sent a bushing wrench for everyone. Caspian sent patches. All of course sent catalogues as well and S&W, Kimber and a few others sent catalogues.

Dave Manson, as Ned noted, generously contributed a neat little tool kit and 4-in-1 screw drive set for everyone.

Dan Wesson wanted in too but there was a shipping problem. Next time!

The flat screen TV that Gander Mountain provided really made it cool to be able to see what Ned was doing up close.

Other than lunch it was an A+ day. We at Triad were really pleased to be able to host the class and as always enjoyed spending time with Ned and appreciated his enthusiasm for the entire thing. It was great to meet those of you that we hadn't met before. If there is any one that Dennis, Greg or I didn't get to say hello to I apologize- hopefully we'll meet at some future class.

On a personal note later in the day I took my carry gun apart and discovered there was almost no hook left on the extractor. This was good to know obviously- it had been running as recently as the day before the class but needed some attention. I found a guy in the class who was willing to look into that and seemed qualified.

Brent
