It's hard to fault 9mm in a custom built 1911 platform. Here is one I just acquired 'used' (but hard to tell as it was in marvelous condition when I took in down to check it before I put about 150 rounds through it.) The only problem I encountered was the need to replace targets frequently since the centers kept turning into a not-too-large and only slighty ragged hole
Specs are: It was built by Mark Hartshorne of Pinnacle Custom
- Caspian stainless slide (no rollmarks or logos) with scallops treatment
- Top of the slide fluted in "arrowhead" pattern
- Low-mount rear Bo-Mar sight with fully serrated blade and completely dehorned
- EGW fiber optic front sight, .06" rod, drilled through the first post to make installation of replacement rods easier The sight base is rounded to perfectly blend in with the top of the slide.
- Accuracy and reliability job - fitted a match grade bushing,re-crowned barrel, polished feed ramp, barrel throat, etc.
- Springfield stainless frame
- Re-shaped and dehorned ambi-safety
- Fitted Wilson Combat beavertail and relieved the top of the "palm pad" to make it a little more comfortable.
- Ed Brown slide stop, checkered
- Ed Brown magazine release, checkered
- Greider precision solid aluminum trigger (not seen in pictures)
- Replaced stock ILS MSH with S&A stainless bald MSH
- Undercut trigger guard
- Both MSH and front strap have matching scallops treatment that matches the slide
- SDM Fabricating weld-on stainless magwell
- Grips custom cut to clear the magwell
- 4 Metalform 9rds. magazines tuned for the gun
Needless to say, virtually no recoil and the function is marvelous, even with cheap range fodder (but the three mags of match loads I put through it resulted in three just incredible groups!) Very nice gun. Dave
