Here is a custom built by Richard Dettelhouser of Canyon Creek Firearms in Streator Illinois. I ran into a friend who was shooting a gun built by Richard and was quite impressed by fit, finish and performance. I had been thinking about trying the 9X23 and Richard had just finished this Caspian frame/slide double stack gun when I spoke to him. Got it last week and after a lot of rounds through it, the cartridge is impressive, accurate, flat shooting, and functions flawlessly in the 19 round mags supplied with this gun. The detailing, which should be apparent in the photos, is equally impressive.
The basic information on this gun is as follows:
Snake Skin front strap, back strap,
front and rear cocking serrations.
Snake Bellied top of slide with
fluting.
Snake wood grip panels.
Koenig hammer
EGW sear
Slide stop
Shortened trigger
Widened thumb safety
KG Gun Kote flat Gray.
Aimpoint Comp 7 min dot with CPMI mount
Nowlin 9x23 barrel with 4 port comp
One piece SS guide rodL
lightened rear of slide flute cuts and 2 holes
4-19 round mags
All in all, a very impressive gun from a little-known builder. (By the way, the gun was newly cleaned and the photos show a lot of dust on the surfaces. I should have wiped it down better before I took the photos. I am a better shot than I am a photographer, thankfully.) Dave
