The finer things in life are always worth the wait... And so it is with my new Colt Commander.

I sent a NIB Colt Commander to Don a while back and asked him to build me my idea of the perfect carry gun. I believe he may have gotten it right!

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...

A nicely checkered magazine release. It's the little touches that really make it something special.

I really love ball cuts!

This is probably the most beautiful weapon I own. Craig Spegel Exhibition Grade stocks really complete the package.
Image

A very nicely fitted grip safety.
Image

Don's trademark slide serrations.

Lastly, a very nice little pony!

Thanks for everything Don! As always, you've given me exactly what I was 'shooting' for.

MAN!!!
That is one handsome pistola.
:D
Knowing Don, I'd bet it performs at least as well as it looks.

With 'smiths like Don, Chuck, John, Mark, Ted, Ned, et al, there are two real issues I have with cruising this site (well, three, actually, I spend too damn much on the guns that show up here): First, I need to wear a bib to avoid getting drool on the keyboard. Second, I soon run out of new ways to say, WOW!!!!! So let me just say, that one damn fine gun you got there. Dave

I'm not generally a fan of stippling on 1911's but that looks really good. I've had Don do some sight work and trigger work on a number of hi-powers but have yet to have him do a complete gun. Maybe I need to remedy that...

1. Very-very nice gun.

2. A couple of .45 ACP rounds in the suit's breastpocket. How haute couture, moda elegante, fashion-forward... Would it be considered business casual?

I wondered that, too.

I saw this gun just the other day, in fact, it was being packed up for shipping.

COOL BLASTER, DUDE! (LTWspeak for " that is a wonderful job of work, Don!")

It was nice to see the ball cuts lined up with the dustcover. I like things like that a lot.

Wow guys, thanks for all the compliments. I just got back from the range with her and boy does she shoot! A benched 1.25" 5 shot group at 25 yards.

Don deserves all the kind words. He always builds beautiful guns, but I'm especially impressed with this one. I've got to get some leather broken in for it, but then it rides with me.

Oh, I almost forgot... Yes, the mainspring housing is stippled also. I'm amazed at how Don can take a punch and hammer and create art the way he does. This is my first stippled weapon, and after 250 rounds, I can say that I love the way it feels. I'll have to carry it for a while to be sure, but I'm betting it won't be so rough on my jacket linings either.

Mark, you've been busy. Two guns come back at the same time. Good for you. Stunning work as always, Don.

Yeah, it's a little like Christmas around here for me! I am glad however that I paid for these up front. It would really suck to have to dig up the money all at once!
