Here is the picture of my BHP I was asking about. I have ordered a new guide rod from Brownells.
Notice the slight green tint. Also note the melding of the slide fore & aft.
I assume these are not factory features. Right???
Anyway, I like the gun but don’t know the history.
I added the C&S safty the Novack sights, and the Spegel grips.

It appears as if that guh has been moderately dehorned. Is that what you are referring to?

I am new to BHP's but not guns. those looking at the gun in person think it's is slightly green but maybe my picture doesn't quite get there. The de-horning is what I was refering to. My original question was if this "de-hornin" & finish were factory as I don't know the history of the gun and neither does the store where I bought it.

That's really not a bad looking gun. Whoever did it was OK. I've never been a fan of the Mark III Novak sights but they're fine if you're not wanting to mill the slide like with the Mark II's.

The dehorning is good, too. Enough to matter but not making it have that "melt" look.

Someone has put in a C&S improved sear lever at one point in time. Is it still in there? How's the trigger?

Harold, I'm very curios about how you knew about the sear. I didn't know, but when I got the gun it had a C&S trigger which I didn't like because 1) it was too light for a carry gun & 2) it curved in a manner that hurt the tip of my trigger finger. I changed it to a standardn (minus disconnect) trigger and although the pull isn't as light, it's so crisp that I feel it is perfect. I measured it at a tad over 4 lbs with no creep.
How did you know about the sear. Is it becasue I was able to put the C&S safety in?

The two holes in the slide is an indication of a different sear lever installation

Perhaps you guys can see the green cast better form this shot. I am thinking of having it blued and maybe the flats of the slide polished. What do you think? I'm unsure about the polishing as I like the durability of the matte. :?
Also, please inform this "novice" what the C&S sear does to the trigger.

PS: Harold, the slide did require milling for the rear sight.

The C&S improved sear lever simply changes the position of the fulcrum of the sear lever and gives a greater mechanical advantage, thereby lightening the trigger pull/press of the gun. I've always been curious about them but have only tried one that was in a C&S gun at a show. I have one in the wrapper but have never installed it or had it installed.

The Mark III sights require a minimum of fitting. The Mark II sights on a Mark III gun require quite a bit of fitting.

I don't really see any type of greent tint from the pictures, it looks like a very nice pistol, the cost of a refinishing job would buy a lot of ammo.

Same here. The gun looks good.

Hell, if you're not happy with it, shoot me a price! I might buy it from you! Or trade you a nice blued hi-power that has Novak sights (gold bead front).

Well, it's not my imagination because others have noticed it. But you're right, the photo is not quite on color wise and doen't look green. It's very subtle even in the best light. Oh well, maybe I'll find out the history of the gun, but in the meantime I plan to keep it. Sorry guys but thanks for the offer. I like it a lot and it carries and shoots nice.
