I've ordered a round-butted gun through Ted Yost and am trying to figure out which fronstrap would be best. I'm leaning towards 30 lpi checkering. We have no concealed carry in my state so I'm not concerned with it catching on clothes etc.. I wonder if serrations would feel more appropriate with the smoothness of the stocks and butt?

if you have no concealed carry law, and dont see it happening anytime soon, i would get checkering.... some people tend to wory a lot about checkering on carry guns. i dont, but some do.

Brother Methias,

I have a Ted Yost LW Commander with the rounded butt/MSH feature (the MSH is checkered 30lpi and the rounded butt is smooth), and 30 lpi checkering on the front strap. It gets carried quite a bit. These two features go together perfectly for me, both in appearance and function. If both appeal to you separately, I see no reason why you wouldn't be happy with them on the same pistol.

Good luck!

I retail a bunch and most seem to get what matches meaning whatever is on the front get on the rear.

I did have two who wanted nothing on the front and checkered mainspring housing and there were no issues. Client what this for him and his son. His reason was the rear or mainspring checkering was enough to aid in control.

Checkering seems to be the most popular for both front and rear.

Hope this helps some.
