Without a gun, that flag you're waving may as well be white!

Nice one! I've been wanting to see one of these ever since Dave announced he'd be building them. Can we get a range report?

My offer to buy you a beer if you get to A. P. Hill still stands. Good to see you alive and well in VA Beach.

Thanks again to you and your guys.

I like that!
It reminds me of my first 1911- an SA "kit gun"- when it was finished. I miss that one greatly.
I've already been to Mr Berryhill's website. Looking. Thinking. You know.

witherspoon,

I'll try to give you a shout when I'm up that way. I wrote a range report in the SEAL Forum over at Tactical Forums. Basically, Dave Berryhill put 100 rounds through it before shipping it to me. I trained with it on reactive steel plates and movers. I lubed it with Marine Pal and put 350 rounds through it. I used Wilson 7 and 8 round mags, Wilson 10 round mags, and Shooting Star 8 rounders. There were no failures to feed, fire or eject, whatsoever. The slide locked to the rear each time the mag went empty. I fired 230 grain Match Ball. The pistol was zeroed dead-on at 25 yards. It has a very crisp trigger pull.

It was nice to shoot an old school gun comprised of parts wih older names like Bar-Sto, Videcki, Clark, Millet, Kings and Pachmayr. The gun performs very solidly and is flat out reliable with plenty of accuracy.

Here are some more "old school" operator pistol pics:

The pistol is surrounded by a UDT lifejacket, USN MkII Ka-Bar, original SEAL Team issue Tudor/Rolex with brass luminous survival compass on the band.

Enjoy :D ,

As Ken Hackathorn once told me
"That's the kind of gun that wins wars".

Very nice! I love "working" guns. My customs are mostly minus "bling".

You gotta love a guy who isn't afraid to scratch his new pistol!

That one is an "Old Version" MEU(SOC) replica with a Bar Sto barrel and bushing that have been blackened. Frogman also asked for front cocking serrations since he usually wears gloves. He sent me an old GI frame made by Colt and also managed to find a new, in-the-wrapper Colt GI contract slide for his project.

The MEU/SOCs were originally built off from GI issue 1911A1s - I believe those were never stamped USMC, only US Army & US Navy. Most Marine 45s were Army stamped. Just one of the joys of being the red-headed stepchild of the DoD (or Dept. of War in those days) of the Defense Procurement system.

I like that rear sight. Is it custom made or available commercially?

If you're a Navy SEAL carrying a MEU(SOC) pistol with "US Army" stamped on it then it all balances out (as long as you are transported by the Air Force) :D

I've got a few sights and will be making more soon. Drop me an email.
