I thought I'd share my TRS with everyone. I recently had Bob Miller of http://www.millercustom.com install the new Yost Professional Grade rear sight, as well as fit and blend a SA mag well for me.

I really like these sights. First let me say that I did not like the almost Novak rear that the TRS comes with. The three green dot set up, IMO is just silly. If anything, the three green dots slow me down. I'd at least rather have two green and maybe a orange front, or even better a straight eight set up.

Also, while the almost Novaks are great for not snagging, they are not the best when it comes to single hand manipulations, such as using your belt to rack the slide. Plus, for no better reason I just don't like the way they look:D

I'm very pleased with the Yost sight. These things are beefy!! If I'm ever in a confrontation and I run out of ammo, or my gun stops working, I know that I can beat the BG into oblivion with these sights!! OK that may be going a little far, but trust me, these sights are built to last. I also appreciate the serrations on the rear of the sight. This is a nice added touch.

One thing I did not realize when I ordered the sights was that the rear notch is opened up to .140". I had never shot a rear sight with this wide of a cut, and was a little concerned when Bob called me and told me about the extra width. I decided to try it though, and I'm glad I did.

After shooting a couple hundred rounds, I have found that I do not give up any accuracy at all. What I have noticed is that when getting on target and getting a good sight picture, it is much quickier and easier with the wider notch. I'm actually starting to prefer the wider notch.

I did not have tritium installed in the rear sight, instead going with just a front tritium insert. This is my preferred set up. While night sights do help, they are not a must have, a flashlight is much more important. With tritium in the front, you have a good reference.

Anyone considering upgrading their sights should take a hard look at the Yost Pro Grade sight. You can call Yost directly or order from Brownells, and at $30, they are downright cheap. Like I said, I was never a Novak fan, going with Heinie's just because that was the only other real viable option. The Yost sight will be the only sight I will be using on my guns from now on. I am that impressed with it. I have them going on a Yost Commander and a Commander that Bob is tweaking a bit.

Here's another. The front is a Novak FO.

Scott - Thanks for the well though out view point! I may just have to try a set on my Thunder Ranch gun.

Dose anyone else have any input/experience with these sights?

I have two sets of YoBo PG sights on a couple of guns (both Les Baers, as it happens), and just received another rear sight from YoBo for a third gun.

I originally ordered the three tritium dot with white outline setup, and have since used a black Sharpie to mute the rear sight outlines. The tritium on the rear sight still shows through in limited visibility at a lower level than the front sight, which with its bold white outline, now comes faster to my eyes under all conditions.

I like every aspect of this sight: sight picture (.140 wide rear notch), solid construction and ability to run the gun one-handed if necessary.

Hmm...I'm thinking of doing having my TRS setup with these sights as well. I find the front sight on my TRS to be a little too narrow for fast work. In addition to widening the rear sight, are you using the std. Yost front sight?
Thanks.

Mine is the Yost front sight with Trijicon inserts. I haven't miked it for width, but it picks up quickly for me, especially with the white outline around the tritium vial. The white outlines on this rear sight (and its mate on my Custom Carry) have both since been blackened out.

I'll get a better picture up someday soon.....

Nice stocks Mr. Leahy.
Are those cross-cut coco-bolo?

Nice set-up.

My stock fron sight on my TRS measures .115" wide. I've been told some of the TRS's come with a .110" front sight, which IMO would be far too narrow for use with the Yost rear sight. The more I shoot with it, the more I think I'd rather have it wider. Sooner or later I will be going to a .125" front sight.

jmtgsx, thanks for the compliment on the stocks. I like them. :D

Like the YoBo sights, these grips really do deserve a better picture...

The grips are described by the maker as South American Cocobolo. He refers to this pattern as "Ring of Saturn." His name is Gary Atkin, and he can be reached at geatkinjr@lycos.com
