I am new to posting here, but have been reading the posts for several months now. I am having some work done on a Springfield Operator and need to have the pistol refinished afterwards. This pistol will be carried, not a safe queen, so my questions regarding finish are not only in regards to attractiveness, but also to durability.
I had pretty much decided on having the Birdsong Black-T finish applied, based on some reliable advice and what I had read about it, until I read about the new EGW E-Treat finish on this website.
Now I am torn... Keep in mind that I have no personal experience w/ either finish, previously all my firearms have been parkerized, hard chomed, blued, etc., so I have to rely on what others can tell me about the finishes to make my decisions. Does anyone have personal experience about the relative merits between these 2 finishes that they can share w/ me? Also any suggestions regarding finishes that I haven't mentioned are appreciated and welcomed. I have come to appreciate the professionalism that I have seen on this forum, especially in comparison to some of the other forums out there. Thanks in advance.
