Hello, for those who followed the thread around December, there was an outpouring of support for me from this forum on getting a pistol I was working on done. Remember how Al had donated a rifle to me so I could keep this pistol but stave off some bill collectors? Well, thanks to his support and men like Jim Tighe, Josh Denny, "nmorse" and a mystery gunsmith from this forum who shall remain anonymous unless he wishes to accept credit. There were others I wish to thank but who wanted to remain anonymous and if I forgot anyone I apologize but my closet is locked up where I kept the names of those who helped me to thank them in the future. This build started as a WC frame, pre-checkered, and a caspian slide. Most parts are WC with a few small parts from caspian as well as heinie sights and a nighthawk barrel. The work I perfomed was to install and contour the magwell, beavertail, fire control components, bevel all edges, adj and tune extractor, polish frame and feedramp and serrate rear of slide 40lpi and contour and fit the thumb safety. The mystery gunsmith who offered his help cut the slide for the heinies and fit the barrel and some details associated with the barrel fit as well as face of the back of the slide so I didn't have to. I don't have access to a mill/lathe right now so without his help I still wouldn't have this finished. I found a local refinisher here in Indianapolis who applies the polymer finishes and he did it over the weekend for me very reasonably and I didn't have to worry about shipping. The finish was very professional and I am very satisfied with it. I'm going to an old army buddies in OH this weekend to shoot the heck out of it. Here are some quick pictures I took but there isn't really much detail to be seen yet, i'll work on it! Again, thanks everyone for the outstanding support. As an update, I did finally find work at Indiana University in Indianapolis as a faculty member. Right now I am coordinating DoD sponsored research about Vietnam vets with traumatic amputations so we may learn from their experiences and help the young guys coming back from Afganistan and Iraq and future conflicts, so i'm slowly getting back on my feet.
