For everyone who is involved in LTW it sometimes feels like plain old work, you are on the phone, on the mill, covered in dust, or your hands hurt from holding onto a file for longer than you should of. That is true for those who "grind it out" everyday. But after being at the Shot Show and meeting many of the members it leaves you with the constant reminder that what we are doing counts one way or the other.
This year's charity campaign is certainly our best yet. The money we raise will go to help a child, not mine, not yours, but someone's child who's parents love that boy or girl as much as we do our own children or spouses. So, is it really work when you spend time on an LTW gun? Not for a second.
In fact when we are all on a conference call or on the Board of Directors forum it is hilarious to see the mad scramble of volunteers when a project comes up. Believe it or not we get pretty geeked up to work on a project together. This project is a result of one of our "Team Guns" which any three or four of us will work on and sell so we can continue to buy guns, parts, and create revenue to continue what we are doing.
The pictures show the 4th Team Gun built by John Harrison, CT Brian, and myself. None of us knew what exactly the other one was going to do. But that is the fun part. While this appears to be a classic blued Series 70 Colt it has some pretty nice touches that set it apart. Pay attention to the checkering.
The 4th of July auction was far more successful than we imagined. It is people like Keith Crowder, Al Shear, Chip, Barry, that help us keep things going. Not to mention Mark Downing who keeps this thing afloat, and Susan Brian who cracks the whip when necessary. Mark is usually behind the curtains telling us what to say. Susan just tells us when to say it. Remember we are just a bunch of cops, smiths, or holster makers.
When this goes on the 'For Sale' forum I will write up a description of the work done and by who.
Thanks to all of you.
