For everyone who is involved in LTW it sometimes feels like plain old work, you are on the phone, on the mill, covered in dust, or your hands hurt from holding onto a file for longer than you should of. That is true for those who "grind it out" everyday. But after being at the Shot Show and meeting many of the members it leaves you with the constant reminder that what we are doing counts one way or the other.

This year's charity campaign is certainly our best yet. The money we raise will go to help a child, not mine, not yours, but someone's child who's parents love that boy or girl as much as we do our own children or spouses. So, is it really work when you spend time on an LTW gun? Not for a second.

In fact when we are all on a conference call or on the Board of Directors forum it is hilarious to see the mad scramble of volunteers when a project comes up. Believe it or not we get pretty geeked up to work on a project together. This project is a result of one of our "Team Guns" which any three or four of us will work on and sell so we can continue to buy guns, parts, and create revenue to continue what we are doing.

The pictures show the 4th Team Gun built by John Harrison, CT Brian, and myself. None of us knew what exactly the other one was going to do. But that is the fun part. While this appears to be a classic blued Series 70 Colt it has some pretty nice touches that set it apart. Pay attention to the checkering.

The 4th of July auction was far more successful than we imagined. It is people like Keith Crowder, Al Shear, Chip, Barry, that help us keep things going. Not to mention Mark Downing who keeps this thing afloat, and Susan Brian who cracks the whip when necessary. Mark is usually behind the curtains telling us what to say. Susan just tells us when to say it. Remember we are just a bunch of cops, smiths, or holster makers.

When this goes on the 'For Sale' forum I will write up a description of the work done and by who.

Thanks to all of you.

“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” Thomas Alva Edison

that is slick. Love the checkering. The whole package is wicked. Well done to all involved.

Is this gonna be offered as gun/knife combo with that Rinaldi ?

If you need some leather for that thing, just say the word. I have a bunch of Black Elephant coming that would compliment all of that fine workmanship.

It would be my pleasure to donate to such a worthy cause.

Very nice, serious-looking gun...with a little bit thrown in to give it a little "kick".

Wow! That's a very unique, well-executed gun. I like every detail. What I like most is the cause. You guys just keep amazing all of us bystanders. Great job by all.

GOD Bless

Great photos, Steve...as usual

John, Tim, fantastic work - well befitting the professionals who performed those mods.

Some may not know, because everyone's become so familiar with Steve, but he's not a professional smith! That fact is belied constantly in the quality of the work he consistently does. One of the things I enjoy most about working with Bailey is the open, wide-eyed willingness to learn, and an absolute passion for doing things correctly. It would be easy to say "Hey - I'm a full time LEO- I'll let someone else do my sight cuts, borders, checkering, whatever." No way, no how. Steve insists on doing everything himself, as he should, and to the absolute best of his ability.

Who knows? Maybe one day he'll retire and hang out his shingle  When he does, don't count on just another run of the mill shop. Dues will be paid in full, and his customers will actually get the benefit of his talent.

Great job guys. This one's going to make someone very happy for a long time!

Gentlemen, I'm in the PRK as well and am limited to sending you guns to smith over.

I would like to commend everyone for their professionalism and work. I would be honored to own any 1911 created by any one of the LTW crew. I'm so glad I found this forum.

I'm anxious to see the LTW #5

Just wondering, how much would something like that cost?

Thanks,

Let me just say that working with any of the gentlemen on the LTW team is not only an honor, but a privilege. A more devoted and professional group doesn't exist.

It's also fun.

An awesome example of the synergy I've seen created here.

1+1+1=10!

The ribbed checkering is unique and I'm sure it feels great.

:D

That is a phenomenal example of a custom 1911. I have always wondered about a skip checkered pattern and that was executed just perfectly.
