Hey all,
I'm considering George at EGW for a retro/spartan type build. I was wondering if any of you had any pics of his work other than the E-treated Colt on his website? All the other pics seem to be of "race" type guns. I was thinking of a high gripped but NON treated frontstrap.

Thanks
Rich

I'm curious as well. EGW is not too far from my home so it would be nice to use a smith in the area.

Well, I have heard he has a long turn around on full house customs, but in my experience if you were going to use egw to do sight cuts and checkering and so on he has a quick turn around. Also all of the staff at EGW are hella nice guys so if you have any questions just give em a call they do outstanding work and have been very helpful to me in the past few months. I cant remember where I saw some pics of his non race gun work but the one's I have seen are very nice. George the owner I believe used to work for Austin Behlert if that is any guage to the quality of work he does,, hope this helps.

EGW's turn around time on a full house gun is 12 months, which is not very long for a first rate gunsmith. Lesser work is 12 weeks.

He did indeed work for Austin. From first hand experience I can vouch for the quailty of his work.

I have a gun that has been worked on by George and Co. that is quickly approaching full house status. I have been doing a bit here and a bit there during the "offseason" in IDPA. All I have left on the plate is a new beavertail, tightening the slide to the frame and E-treat and the gun will be done. If I have time later I'll try and take a few snaps of the gun and post them here.

I wish I could help with details but they are not my guns. I maintain quite a database of gun pictures on my hard drive of many custom guns. I felt these would be a good representation on what was being asked. Perhaps the owners are lurkers or posters here that can chime in with details.

Let's see if this works.

Blended S&A magwell.

Sorry I don't have better pictures but since this is a "game" gun I wasn't overly concerned with cosmetics. Having said that I like this gun alot. One of three that I own that I would never part with. If you want the details of the build there is an old post in this forum that details the work done and parts used.

Thanks guys! For this build, I'm not looking for "pretty", I'm looking for functional/bombproof.

I'm thinking...
Reliability package
Trigger job w/Berryhill/10-8 trigger
EGW "guts"
Aftec extractor
Kart bbl/bushing
Trijicon dovetail front
YoBo retro rear
High grip front strap (no treatment)
"Rowel" type commander hammer
Stock grip safety relieved for above hammer
Stock Colt thumb safety or cut down C&S model
VZ grips
and Etreat
