It seems over the past couple of years there has been a slight trend towards "tactical" 1911's. Aren't they all tactical if tactics are applied? It seems that in this catagory of pistols they have to be black and dangerous.
I have noticed when these guns are built they tend to lack a some detail work. Why is that? Why wouldn't the user want all the detail and workmanship the smith can put into it if in fact he is going to use it to defend himself.
Strangely enough the guns we build for SF guys, SWAT officers, and other members of military, or known in some ciricles as real deal guys are never the blasted black variety. One told me why would I want a gun like that when I am forced to carry one like that at work? These guys usually want a detailed out, beautifully done carry set up. Something that deviates what they use at work. Sort of like if you drive a Taxi all day...you wouldn't buy a Taxi to drive as your personal vehicle would you?
Anyway, Jason did this gun as a gift to a friend of his who just happens to be a Special Forces operator. This was a total surprise and this gentleman just happened to leave to Afghanistan for his third or fourth time. He is a class act and a hard core soldier. He is lucky to be carrying such a gun.
Jason you have outdone yourself on this one. A finely detailed "operator's carry gun" I hate the word tactical so I will refrain from using it any longer.
Beautifully done 20lpi checkering.
Yost-Bonitz double diamond micartas.
The Colt Government Model still going strong in service.
YoBo Pro Grade sights and action components.
Perfectly executed slide top with gold line front.
Hand filed mag well.

An overall shot of the entire gun.
