Here are a couple of mini Behlerts. There is a post by Austin here on LTW where he talks about building the mini HP. Here is what he had to say about Mini Colts with Seecamp conversion (not this particular gun).

The Behlert/Colt/ Seecamp mini here is one of the many I did of these. I
would send the basic pistol to Louie Seecamp for DA and when it was
returned I would perform all that was required to make a Mini. We had a
good working relationship and I would say that I built about 15 minis of
this style. This particular one has my sight and a finger groove. These
were popular to people who liked the DA first shot.

im not much on mini 1911's or BHP's, HOWEVER, i sure appreciate the work that was put into those 2.

It looks to me that the BHP trigger was not only re contoured, but the actual arch of the trigger was changed a bit.

10 on the cool factor.

I dont care for the function of the minis but the work is amazing. I am sure the mini's and short barreled revolver conversions Austin was performing years ago are the reason we have Officers, Micros, and other factory offerings today.

The factory trigger is actually cut short and a new one fabricated. Here is how Austin described it.
Quote:
The trigger was modified with a segment of a ring silvered on after millinf the trigger correctly. I kept the trigger slightly narrower than the trigger guard for safety.

Another cutting edge that Austin was on, definitely!

Rest well my friend.

That is pretty neat stuff. Perhaps as radical as it got then...maybe now also.

A friend of mine has a full-house Seecamp-built mini, of approximately Officers size, made from a cut-down Combat Commander. It has, in addition to the DA conversion, an adjustable rear sight which incorporates a loaded-chamber indicator, the Seecamp-patented telescoping guide rod, and a welded-up one-piece beavertail/mainspring housing that does away with the grip safety function. It's a pretty neat piece of work, regardless of whether one likes DA, or not.

Gary:

Thought that looked like the mini BHP I traded Ray Harms, then saw Austin's email to me which confirmed it.

That's a great piece. I've had seller's remorse since selling it. You've got a nice Behlert collection. I only have one mint BHP that Austin built left (pictured below), and it's a keeper! Sad that Austin's passed, but if they have a custom shop in the sky, I know he's building!

Best regards,

Jim

Thanks Jim. I promise to give it a good home and never mistreat it. I have really enjoyed collecting the Behlerts. Still looking for one of his chopped 39/59 S&W's.

Gary

Gary,

Many thanks for sharing these great pics, and the other ones you have posted. A real pleasure to be able to see this innovative work.

I just checked out your web page with the tribute to Austin. You have quite a collection there! It just sorta made me feel good to know that someone had taken the time to remember and appreciate the work of a smith who's no longer with us. Thanks Gary.
