Will a WWI style thumb safety and hammer work on a series 80 Colt 1991A1 (like the one on this Sams custom gun)?:

http://www.louderthanwords.us/forum/vie ... light=sams

Also, does anyone make these parts for aftermarket sale? I'm looking at lightly customizing a series 80 1991A1 and want to keep a military look. Thanks.

I know Cylinder & Slide sells a wide spur hammer that is the same as the WWI 1911's.

I would check with Colt about the thumb safety. It should work OK. Also USFA might have a source as they make a neat retro, too. It is a great part!

U S Firearms used to be US Patent Firearms and I no longer have a link to them. Doug Turnbull makes a WWI retro 1911 with the thunb safety on it. They do revolvers mostly.

Might check caspian also they have started putting out retro components in the last few years. The thumb safety shouldnt be a problem provided someone with some "Know-How" does it.
