What is the story on these?
A few years ago before I got into 1911s some guy had one at the range next to me and when I asked what it was went on to Explain how Griffon was a good gun but very hard to find in the US etc etc.
Are they good?
Are they good to build off of?
I have a chance to buy a commander for under 500 and am not sure.

Here's a simpler way to word the question....

Would any of the LTW smiths touch one, even on a bet?

And just so I can get my answer in before Harrison actually bets me, NO

Maybe I'm being harsh - even the Trabant would make a great luxo-tourer, with about $300K worth of improvements

And that is why I like this board...
A straight to the point answer.

Thank you very much Mr. Yost.

and just to think... I was about to get a Trabant to send to Boyd Coddington! Two saves for price of one from Mr. Yost

So the Trabant with a LT-1 is not a good idea after all...........................I thought it might make a good sleeper.
