Can a Kimber Pro Carry in .38 Super be converted to 9x23, or does their recoil system make this project unlikely?

Yes it can , would be best to just get a new barrel change.

Most .38 super factory chambered guns will work just fine in 9x23. Some will need a chamber reaming and extractor tweak, but some will work 100% fine.

I have two .38 supers that work great with 9mm Largo, .38 super, .38 Supercomp, 9x23 Supercomp, and 9x23.

Use an ISMI flat wire recoil spring for the Kimber Compact (20lbs) a 23 lb hammer spring and you will be good to go with full bore 9x23.

I also have a 9mm Kimber Compact Alloy that will probably get the treatment that you are considering.

I have a Colt Commander that Dick Heinie built for me. Chamber in a BAr-Sto 9x23. It takes them and 38 Super mixed in the magazine and shoot like a champ. I don't do that on regular basis, I tend to stay with 9x23 and Super Comp brass.

Thanks for the information, particularly the spring details. I appreciate it.

I have a LW Kimber set up in 38 Super that chambers 9X23 fine. I run 23# Hammer Spring and a Wolff 22# Recoil Spring for a Springfield Compact.
I have shot it enough to know it is reliable. Coyotes hate it.

Richard, thanks for the information. I'll probably pick up a Kimber Pro Carry HD in 38 super and have it changed to 9x23.
