I have been looking at a used stainless Colt series 70 at the shop I help out at. It's in good shape with no major issues that I can see other than the frame/slide fit is no good. It rattles like a Colt :) I am planning to buy it and send it in for the 1* Enhanced package and I was wondering if you tighten the frame/slide fit as part of the deal?

Thanks,
Bryan

That would be quite a deal, considering some of the fits we've seen on 70 Colts of late.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of these need to be welded up and recut. That's added to the package prices.

Oh, the price we pay to own a nice Colt - wouldn't it be nice if they had the desire, capability, or even if they recognized their historical responsibility to build quality 1911's? Sometimes I wonder why we work so hard to make them look good

I've got a Series 80 1* Elite on order with YoBo and the "package" features state "Hand fit frame and slide"

Is that not correct ???

I was asking about the Enhanced version, the Elite is quite a bit more and that is included in the verbage. This is why I am asking, I didn't see it written in the Enhanced description :(

Ted,
What are the issues you're seeing on the new Colts?

My latest 70, #30XX had .015" lateral play in the frame/slide fit. Not a new record, as I've had Deltas that were even sloppier, but not within the realm of peen & squeeze. Welded up, it's perfect but it should be unnecessary to correct such a gross error in a "premium" product.

Colt should be ashamed.
