Hi Barry, I tried again, and this time the recording (can't leave a message) says they're not taking in guns right now, as they don't have a gunsmith!?! Looks like I'll put them on a once-a-month call back and keep my fingers crossed. Then again, maybe I can find a resturant in Lacombe to try out. Love that Louisiana food!
Hey Bob, it shoots great. I finally got it to the range, and it worked perfectly, and shot better than I can. Fifteen yards, five shots, three touching, and two called flyers an inch off the cloverleaf (I don't see as well as I used to). Fed all the old dump-it-in-the-box ammo I took, and never stopped. One fail to feed with an old (really old) Wilson mag (that I've had problems with in my Gold Cup, maybe I need a new spring). I've heard so many bad things about the CMC mags that I was wondering why this gun came with two ten-rounders. No wonder no more, they worked just fine. As this is destined to be a house gun, they can stick out the bottom all they want.

I dunno about the checkering on the magwell, your explanation is as good as any. It's not a sharp checkering though, kinda rounded points, so I don't think it would tear up anything too much.
Thanks for the feedback guys!
