I'm having a 5" 1911 built up for off duty carry and was looking for some opinions on grip panels. No slim fit, and the magwell is going to be the type where part of the frame is removed, and the magwell will be inside the relieved part of the grips. The Yost double diamonds are at the top of my list so far. I need good purchase on the grips, but they have to be comfortable for IWB (against the skin) carry, so the Gunner Grips I love so much for duty carry are not an option. No ambi safety cut needed. Opinions anyone?

look at the vz grips website....better yet, get some nice wood grips..

My personal favorite would be either half & half stippled by Hakan of Norway, or his full stippled. You would not believe how the fully stippled ones hold on to you!

I dig the gunner grips. I put them on everything.

Looks like Heine makes a DD black micarta grip that's precut for their XX magwell. I think those'll fit the bill for now. Thanks for all of the responses. Those Hakan grips are beautiful!!

I forgot to mention the magwell; Hakan will make them to fit what you want.

CTC Lasergrips #401... They are fine as is, you can send them off to Bowie and have him stipple them. You should be able to take a file and take enough off the bottom for them to fit your mag well w/o damaging the grips... They really rock at night.

I'm a big fan of the DD micarta grips that YOBO (VZ) sells. I just talked to Ted on Friday and ordered some in black. Can't wait to get them. I'll be selling a set of green/black linen VZ's if your interested
