Fellas,

I have a few questions I need addressed. I have asked my regular gunsmith and tried internet searches to no avail. I need to find a recoil system for a detonics Combat Master, aswell as a decent sight that will fit the dovetail for the original factory sight. The factory sight is either undersized, or the dovetail oversized, because the sight sits up in the dovetail and is held secure by the set screw wedging it into the top of the cut. As for the recoil system, it's simply been beaten up from shooting, and I can't find one anywhere. I know Detonics USA is supposed to be producing guns soon, but I can't get parts as of yet and really would like to get some asap.

I am thinking a simple sight like the Yost retro wouold be great, but I'm not sure if it'd fit.

Part II:

I need a few Colt commander ring hammers that are unmodified for a couple of projects. If any of you have some that are in good shape and wouldn't mind parting with them for some cash, let me know, please.

Thanks much, and GOD bless you all.

~Jim Keeney

You can always get a Commander hammer from Kings or MGW. Brownells carries the MGW in carbon steel only and you can get carbon steel or stainless from Kings. They aren't the quality of Cylinder & Slide's tool steel stuff but they aren't bad either (cast I think).

The Kings are relieved on the sides so they don't rub on the slide while the MGWs aren't relieved.

The Colt Commander rowel hammers are available from Novak's.

Did you get my email with the contact info for the gentleman in Seattle?
Our email has been a mess, and I don't know for sure what got sent and what got "lost".

Barry,

No, I didn't get an e-mail, but I just checked my PMs and I have one there from you. Thanks a lot... I'll give him a call and see what I can find. The only part on the gun that I can't find is the recoil system. Mine has a three spring setup, and I'd like to see if there is something I can replace it with or simply have another on hand as a just-in-case.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it. This gun is slated to go to Ned. If I can't find a factory part, I'm sure Ned can make something.

~Jim

Jim I believe the Combat Master uses the same recoil system as the Safari Arms Enforcer. It is a captive three spring system. They are availible from Safari Arms in Washington. A google serch gets their web site and phone number. The one I bought was about 80 bucks.

Good luck- Gary

I forgot that I sent a PM also after realizing our email was a mess.
Have you contacted him by chance? I'm just curious if he is still around.
