She's a beauty, Chuck! I always enjoy seeing the pictures of your work here and on 1911forum.com

What finish is on that particular pistol, and whose rear sight is that? I thought at first it might be one of your modified Heinies, but then the back end of it looked different.

Thanks again for sharing your work with us.

Buck,
Thanks for the kind words!
The rear sight is my 'Tier One' design. It is equipped with yellow Trijicon tritium lamps without white outlines. I use green with white outline on the front. The green is a bit brighter to bring attention to the front sight.....where it belongs!
Eventually I'll get these sights into production, but for now they are only available on my full builds.
The finish is Gun-Kote(matte grey) and Cera-Kote(graphite black) over a base of manganese phosphate.

Thanks guys!

A sharp eye might notice the slide seated a bit 'proud' of the frame. The pistol was assembled without lubrication for photography purposes. Some FP-10 and a dozen hand cycles later and the rear of the slide is now flush with the frame.

I just now finished up the build sheet. Prolly forgot a few items.
I'd guess this constitutes a 'full-house' build.
:D

Springfield Armory ##PW9108LP
Match grade slide to frame fit.
Kart match barrel.
Wilson barrel link.
Barrel cut flush with bushing and precision crowned.
Custom contoured match grade barrel bushing.
Golfball textured recoil spring plug.
Rogers' cross dovetailed front sight with Trijicon tritium lamp, green with white outline.
Rogers' 'Tier One' rear sight. Two Trijicon tritium lamps, yellow with no white outlines.
'Ball' cuts.
Surface grind sides of slide to remove all lettering.
Remachine rear cocking serrations.
Forward cocking serrations.
Flatten and serrate top of slide. Double arrowhead pattern.
French cuts.
Lower, flare, forward cut ejection port.
60 degree bevel on bottom of slide.
Custom fabricated extended ejector.
2 tuned Wilson extractors.
Oversized firing pin stop.
Brown's steel firing pin.
Brown's 'hardcore' slide stop. Custom contoured, shortened and golfballed.
Chamfer slide stop hole on RH side of frame.
Wilson #337 hammer.
Wilson match sear.
Colt disconnector.
Greider medium length trigger. Internally lightened.
Trigger job 3 3/4 lbs.
Nowlin extended magazine catch. Shortened and golfballed.
Brown's thumb safety. Custom contoured.
Nowlin plunger tube.
Slide stop and thumb safety plungers heat treated for no wear.
S&A grip safety. Welded, custom contoured and golfballed.

I'm not sure that "sexy" belongs on a gun that looks that rugged, but in this case I think it's appropriate. I've been waiting a long time to see one of your Tier One guns unveiled, and it was well worth it. As always, phenomenal work, Chuck!

Chuck,

I'm especially interested in the grinding of the flats to remove factory markings. How many thousandths come off each side? Does the reduction reduce slide weight enough to affect cycling and change recoil spring weights?

Chuck,

Looking at your work just blows me away. I do a lot of my own smithing on my 1911 and I really admire the dehorn job you do. Please keep up the great work and please continue with the pictures of your fabulous guns.

Sheesh, don't know how I missed this beauty.

Of late I've been especially enamored with Chuck's SA magwell treatments, and this is no exception. Complete beauty in an organic, forward looking style. Thanks for sharing, Chuck!

Chuck,

Ive been drooling over "the grey gun" on your website for some time, I think this one trips my trigger even more. But I gotta ask, whats something like that going to cost me? Provided you actually ever get room on your waiting list of course.
