I have a stainless Springfield that I love but hate the beavertail and want to go with one of the new CMC ones. I have been told that the heat effected area can show some slight discoloration.

Does anyone have any pictures of what the tangs on a stainless gun looks like after being welded?

No, but I have a Caspian that I had to have some welding done on. It gets a straw color, comes off when I bead blast before refinishing

Pete, Just make sure that the welder uses the correct rod to get a color match with the frame, which is probably 416. If I remember correctly, using a 309 rod will give a close color match. I'd use someone who's a welder and a smith, so they know what needs to be done, such as EGW. Best,
