In lieu of having a readily available gun smith locally... thought I'd ask for a few opinions.

My Nowlin 9x23 Commander started having some failures this past weekend when I went to the range. It is a 9mm and 9x23 (two barrels and springs) and when I was shooting 9x23 after about 20 rounds of perfect function I started to have FTE about every other round. The 9mm has always functioned perfectly, but this gun 'was' my daily carry in 9x23 until this past weekend.

Any suggestions? I was using my Wilson 47 Magazine (spring seems in good order). I was thinking it could have something to do w/the extractor, but I'm a novice as a gunsmith.

I'd appreciate any armchair suggestions. I'm going to have to get this one taken care of.

Of course until then I'll just have to keep my YB LW Commander 45 in the carry rotation a bit longer.

Thanks.

Why dont you run it by Nowlins? I hear Steve Venaidies (sic) "the Greek" is their in house smith now.

Hmmm... I guess I shoulda thought of that. Last I heard they didn't have any 'smiths working there and were more interested in just selling parts.

I may have to make a trip up there in a week or two.

Any other ideas?

ONE- Try different mags. I had a lot of trouble with Wilson mags in my supers.

Haven't talked to them in a few months but they are friendly. If it is a failure to eject or extract I'd waant to look at the extractor. My partner on the pistol team had a 6" Nowlin 9mm ppc in hard chrome that wouldn't extract and after tensioning it a few times I scrapped it and installed an EGW extractor. Nowlin is still honoring warranty work last I talked to them though.

I don't know if they are doing repair work, but they are in Tulsa: http://www.usshootingacademy.com/ussa_customs.html
