Never owned a gun w/ serrations. Is it worth the extra cost for checkering or do serrations offer enough "traction" for most situations?
Does it simply come down to a matter of personal preference?
I hate to keep asking questions that may sound ridiculous to some, but I wanna do this right the first time. Thanks in advance..........

Serrations give ME all I need. It is a matter of what you want. Checkering is nice but some folks think it can be rough on the hands, I have never had an issue with it. The favorite that I have used so far is Chuck Rogers "golfball". It is a matter of personal choice, and don't worry about getting it right the first time...that's why there will be a 2nd, and a 3rd, and a......

Good luck
Mark

Serrations seem to do the trick for me as well. I believe it probably will come down to personal choice, as the smiths here probably wouldn't do it if it didn't work well.

I have guns with both.

I think that checkering gives more traction, but is easier to damage ( bumping the gun into things, for example).

I have two guns in black T finish which is pretty slickery on its own. With 25LPI checkering, I get perfect traction. With serrations, I desire a little more....but I really attribute this to the finish more than anything. If it were a standard blue or ss pistol I dont think I would have any issues with it.

Skate board tape the covers the front strap and goes back under the grips works great for the grip. Properly executed checkering can be like art...that works fantastically.
