Hello all,

Is it worth having work done to a new BHP MK III?

It's atleast a 90's model, and I was curious if it would be a waste of effort or money to customize a new BHP.

This isn't something I will do real soon, just sort of tossing the idea around after looking at Yost-Bonitz great work.

Or would an older model be a much better base gun? Like a T series or other?

You going to shoot it or admire it? If shooting is your plan, get a new MkIII done. It will last longer. Mine ran through 23,000+ rounds with two malfs and hasn't broken yet.

Older, forged guns have a reputation of not lasting much past 15K.

Of course, if you'll never see 15,000 rounds through it, get yours built on whatever you've got.

Absolutely! I wouldn't hesitate for a moment. I have 3 Hi-Powers... One built on an 80's vintage (I think) Browning gun, one on a recent FN gun and one on a very recent Browning MkIII.

Money well spent in my book.

When I had my BHP done, I sent my newest one. I wanted to send in a MKIII for the harder frame anyway, and it just made sense to me to pick the one with almost no use.
I was going to get the same work done regardless of which one went in.

Thanks all,

I'm drooling over these images of custom pistols you guys have here.

There are some very lucky gun owners here and some very talented smiths.
