I just wanted to share a quick experience I had with the Yost shop and a story that may be boring to some. Several years ago I purchased a series 1 steel kimber compact with the intention of making a custom off duty gun out of it. I was fortunate enough that Larry Vickers was available and built it up for me. Larry replaced all of the MIM parts, did reliability work, trigger job, wilson beavertail, ambi safety, Heinie straight eight night sights, scalloped the front strap and steel mainspring housing, and hard chromed the gun. I could not tell you how excited I was to have my first custom gun. After carrying it for a few years I noticed a few things that I didn't like. First the plunger assembly became loose as it was not staked properly to begin with. Second I didn't care for the tritium inserts that were in the straight eight sights. Lastly I found that I really did not like the hard chrome finish. I feel that hard chrome is too bright for a concealed off duty gun.
The gun is sentimental to me since it was my first custom and was with me during a critical day in my life. I decided that I would change it rather than selling it to finance another custom. With the information I got from this website I contacted the Yost - Bonitz shop. Frankly they were awesome. During this time I sent them an active recoil plug kit from Pistol Dyanmics to install. After sending them the kit I found out that this kit wouldn't work with my particular gun. When I called them the answer I got was "oh yeah Ted saw that, no problem we will take care of it". Also as busy as they are they gave me an approximate delivery time that was right on. During our conversations they were totally professional, answered my questions completely, and left me with a feeling that I made the right decisions. Rather than explaining all of the particulars of what they did I snapped a couple of photos. (sorry for the poor quality, it is my first time posting pictures) I had the gun for several months now and I am still extremely happy with the results and the service in general. The black T finish has been holding up well. I would (and have) without a doubt reccomed the Yost - Bonitz shop.

Gary, is that you? Nice looking gun. Did you ever build on that STI frame I sold you?

Ted and all of the guys at YoBo are TOP notch!
I have spent a small fortune with them over the past year and a half and feel I got a deal!

I have a shotgun, 2 lever guns and was fortunate enough to get a Ted Yost Sig. Grade LW CCO.

I can't praise their word, customer service etc etc enough!
I couldn't say enough good things about them!!!

I will soon be bothering Lew for a Scout I think...

When dealing with the Yost-Bonitz crew...this is par for the course. These guys are not only GREAT smiths...but AWESOME GENTLEMEN.
