Anybody know if it would be a problem having a Ion-bond upper on a hard chrome frame with a tight fitted 1911? I remember reading in the past how hard this stuff is and that it may cause increased wear on untreated parts. Any truth?

I don't know about that, but they do say that it doesn't add any real amount of material thickness to the treated part.

edit to add...as reported to me, no first hand experience with it.
